Has Anyone Taken the GRE?

I'm currently looking into applying for a Research Assistant position at my college that provides pay and cuts tuition by 3/4! Between the two, it would come out to almost $30,000. Part of getting into the program is getting a score of 286 of higher on the verbal and quantitative parts of the GRE. So I'm curious if any has take that test recently, how difficult it is, and what's the best way to study for it.
