That the ruling elite of the GOP have been wimps and have caved every time the Democrats throw a three year old tantrum is not debatable.

That, that is why the Tea Party is arisen and are voting in conservatives that run counter to those RINOS is also something in evidence AND THAT IS EVIDENCE YOU FEAR.

So I guess it's pretty apparent to people that are clear thinking. Many presidents have actually campaigned on lowering spending..and shrinking the government..but few actually do it. The last time these "austerity", "laissez-faire" methods were actually implemented it had horrific effects in the form of the great depression. America has seen it's greatest growth, when the government invested in innovation. This "low-taxes", "low-spending" "paradise" dream is nothing more then that. And to compete in a modern world..with a growing population, this country is going to have to invest.

And anyone telling anything else is perscribing that we go back in time.

The Low Tax, low Spend Presidents were Harding and Coolidge, the Progressive Soviet Central plan Tax and Spend were Hoover and FDR.

Republicans have their own agenda to spend money and have never shrank from spending it. Their idol, Ron Reagan, borrowed more and spent more than any Republican on record. He also significantly expanded the size of Government while at the same time railing against big government

And here we go again... so 12 years of FDR and MASSIVE EPIC sepnding never made anything better and yet it was all Coolidge that made the Depression. Maybe, just maybe if Coolidge had been president a third term the depression would have come and gone like the 1920's depression.

The thing is, we'll never know how things "could" have been if FDR was not President during the GD because thats not how history went... SO lets blame the people who were there when it happened, Hoover and FDR.

Bush didn't implement any restrictions on stem cell research; he just vetoed a bill that would have allowed Federal funding of embryonic stem cells, a decision I support because if that type of research had any promise private industry would already be cashing in on it. It's a waste of tax dollars in a time we can't afford to be wasting.

As far as Cuba, I don't know that it's fair to consider that a Bush policy. The embargo has been in place since JFK and no president has ever made the effort since to do away with it. I do think we should end the embargo completely, though.
