Harvard is considered to be one of the most prestigious universities in the United States and across the world. Some of its graduates include presidents, prime ministers and Nobel Prize laureates.

Now the university is about to make aliyah, specifically to Israel's southern Bedouin city – Rahat, according to President Shimon Peres, Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

Peres is expected to visit Rahat this week and meet with High School seniors to tell them about his vision – establishing a university campus in Israel's largest Bedouin city.

According to his plan, Bedouin and Jewish students will study side by side as a way of brining both communities together. The campus will be located in "Idan Hanegev," a new industrial park currently being built near Rahat.

The students of this new establishment will receive strong support from Harvard, after Peres personally met with the university's senior staff asking them to join the project.

In turn, they expressed tremendous enthusiasm and promised to assist the academic partnership between both countries. Even the president of University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) assured Peres he would help out.

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev will oversee the new campus' operations, and will be considered a BGU branch.
