A majority of voters are OK with Amnesty for DACA enrollees, but only if it comes with strict measures to control the border and limit legal immigration.

According to the poll, 65% of voters would support a DACA deal that secures the Southern border, ends Chain Migration, and eliminates the Visa Lottery. A majority of voters from nearly every demographic group would support the deal, including 68% of Hispanic voters, 64% of African American voters, 64% of Democratic voters, 67% of all independent voters, 63% of liberal voters, and 68% of those who voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election cycle.

The poll also reveals that 60 percent of voters oppose giving preference to parents who illegally brought their children to the U.S. The Durbin-Graham no-strings DACA amnesty offered in the Senate would give amnesty to the parents.

The poll found that 81% of voters want to reduce legal immigration from its current level of more than 1 million per year, and 63% want it cut by at least half.

speaking of polls

An overwhelming majority of Americans supports legal protections for certain undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children, according to a new CBS News poll.

According to the survey, almost 9 in 10 respondents — 87 percent — said they believe that the so-called Dreamers should be allowed to remain in the U.S. if they meet certain requirements, such as working or going to school.

The findings come as lawmakers struggle to strike a deal to protect those immigrants, who are covered by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. President Trump rescinded the Obama-era program last September, but he gave Congress until March to come up with a legislative solution for its recipients.

then theres this poll too

WASHINGTON — Only about a third of Americans say that they will definitely or probably vote for Donald Trump if he runs for reelection in 2020, while half indicate that they’ll definitely or probably support his Democratic general election challenger, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

The poll found that just 18 percent of those surveyed believe that they will "definitely" support Trump if he runs in the next presidential election, with another 18 percent saying that they’ll "probably" choose him. But a significant chunk — 38 percent — say they’re dead set on voting against the GOP commander-in-chief, with an additional 14 percent saying that they’ll probably vote for the Democrat on the ballot.

Looks like Trump and the GOP just found the perfect wedge issue for the 2018 mid-terms...

Looks like Trump has out maneuvered the oh so smart libs again.

There's a middle ground here, there is room for give and take. I'm beginning to think that maybe Trump can find it.

That doesn't mean another President couldn't have too. This doesn't need to be an impossible issue.

Let's consider the other names who might have been in that seat.

HIllary would not have tried to find common ground.

Sanders? Mmm, possibly. He was for restricting immigration too. But he is quite an inside the beltway creature.

I have no doubt they both would have tried to find common ground.

All presidential candidates, including Trump, play to their base during the campaign and then bend when necessary.

"Play" seems like an appropriate word, since most of this stuff seems more like a kid's game than reality.

HIllary might have thought it was play to call half the country deplorable.

We didn't.

0% can tell you what the current immigration levels are .

And if you dump lottery and chain. What’s left!?

Trump is so far far ahead of the curve. His proposal is what 65% of Americans would agree to. The extreme right and extreme left won’t be happy but the country is crying for a middle road. The Dems are so backed into a corner. If they don’t agree to some form of this they are just not interested in solving the problem. Come on 2018. Once again they show themselves to be nothing but the party of hate and obstruction.

67% support that only with strong measures to control the border and limit legal immigration.

Trumps a 1 timer, a Democrat will replace him in 2020 and do the same thing to him that he did to Obama with the stroke of a pen ..

Poof.
