WTF is going on. Harry Reid says no to mosque at ground zero? Is he really responding to pressure from Angle?!?!?!?
cbs said:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was prompted today to state that he thinks the so-called "ground zero mosque" should be built somewhere else.

Republicans have threatened to make the mosque debate a 2010 campaign issue, and a few candidates -- including Reid's challenger Sharron Angle -- are beginning to do so.

Maybe in his old age he's realizing what a HUGE mistake he made in promoting Obama.

It's pretty bad when even those furthest left start crapping their pants.

He's doing what alot of politians do in both parites.
Says what he thinks the public wants to hear just to get reelected. If he was'nt up for reelection he would still be in lock step with Obama.

They do so at their own peril as it can eventually backfire on them. Should the Muslims be more sensitive and build elsewhere? Of course they should. Do they have a right to build a mosque where they please without government intervention? Absolutely. If Republicans start beating this drum, they will come off as only giving lip service to defending the consititution.

First, it isn't a stand alone mosque with a dome on top and second, it isn't at ground zero. It is three blocks away and it is a suite on a floor of a multi-story building.

A little visual help. As you can see the proposed 13 story ceneter will be taller than the building (the 10 story one one to the right of the destroyed building in the middle of the last picture, the mosque/center will be built right behind it). With the mosque being the at the top of the building it will be in clear view of ground zero.

Its close enough to ground zero that landing gear from one of the planes went through the roof of the building where the mosque is proposed to be built.

They have the right to build it there but having the right to do something doesn't always mean you should do it.

That's what you get for letting muslims into the US.

You sound as bad as all the people who are saying "If you dont like the mosque in said locatoin your a bigot" or "You must support this location or else you hate the first ammendment"

Think about it....we live in a country with the freedom of religion and we have MANY MANY muslims who are normal human beings unlike the muslims that flew the planes into the towers on 9/11. These "normal" muslims also agree that this is a bad location to build.

The real truth is that Harry Reid could care less about this mosque. He is only saying stuff that he thinks will get him a few more votes in a close election come November. Next thing you know, he will pull a Murtha and switch political parties but that would come only after he sees no chance for his re-election as a Democrat. If re-elected, Reid will get back to the business of licking Obama's boots almost immediately. You can bet on that. You can shave the hair off of a leopard but his spots will still come popping out rather quickly. The biggest thing Reid is interested in is his re-election and staying in power. Prior to this, how many times have you even heard Reid talking about any sort of religious issues?

So? Two republican believe they should have the right to build it, and think the GOP is being stupid.

If you think there is something wrong with a muslim praryer center near the 911 sight then you think there is something wrong the muslim religion.

Reid's internals must really be awful if he's splitting from the Osiah over this

Luissa your off base with your putting it in the "they have the right to build" framework.
I say this because no one in this thread is saying they do not have the right to build it. What people, like myself, are saying is that the location is not a good choice for the obvious reasons that the attackers on 9/11 were muslims who used that faith as their motivation to murder 3,000 americans of all religions. Just like it would be bad to build a church in mecca and call it the crusaders church, it is and would be disrespectful.

Just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean you should.
