I assume you mean the law mandating everyone to have health care insurance? Don't a lot of American's already have health insurance? I'm not sure how he's gonna put everyone's families in debt with something they aren't forced to buy.

Since I don't know you, I'll engage you on this as if you are intellectually honest. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt the first time.

Take my case. I buy my own insurance for myself and my family. Despite all the propaganda, it really isn't that expensive. The plan I selected excludes some types of coverage, because they don't apply to us. Mrs. Tech_esq won't be getting pregnant anymore and I don't have daughters so we don't need maternity insurance (as for instance). But, I have good coverage for wellness (first dollar coverage) and some other nice features.

My insurance will not meet the new government standards. I will be forced to buy coverage that meets a federal mandated minimum amount of insurance as decided by them. (For short hand sake, it will include maternity insurance, even though I and many others like me don't need it). Maternity insurance is very expensive ( think trial lawyers suing for birth defects). So now, I have to buy expensive health insurance where I used to be able to select a policy that suited my needs and was less expensive.

As far as your uninformed assessment of the healthcare program, the cost increases that will occur at the next renewal time (January 2011) will probably make the plan unaffordable for me and my wife. This will be a direct effect of Obamacare.
