As soon as someone makes Japan live up to the international Whaling conventions and stop trying to pretend they are doing "research" when they are killing an endangered species because rich Japanese people want to eat whale meat.

That's debatable, but more to the point, there's no need for it. There's no valid scientific reason for it, which is what Japan's rational is for doing this.

That's right, it is a completely emotional argument, as are all arguments that draw a line between animals we eat and animals we do not, but it's good enough for me and most others.
