Hamilton & Madison: What little you think you know.

I read somewhere that Madison and Jefferson fought mainly over who would have the most towns and bridges named for them.

Madison was short and had been sickly as a youth and the bigger Jefferson bullied him, but Madison was crafty.

He invented the foldable ping pong paddle and every time Jefferson came around to start stuff Madison would pull it out and bop Jefferson on the bald spot on the back of his head.

He also spread all around Philadelphia that Jefferson had herpes.

And that's the way it was....

Madison, the True Federalist at the Convention, fought with Hamilton and Jay for the constitution's ratification in NY, started moving to the right with Hamilton's funding and assumption bill and the natiional bank bill. He had them passed in the Congress despite his misgivings and in exchange for the bill locating and building Washington DC across the river from Washington's home. By 1796, Madison firmly opposed the Federalists and allowed the first national bank bill to expire in 1811 during this first term as president.

Madison later came around on many things.

We know from sources Hamilton included, that Hamilton did not get his way in many of the constitutional debates (there were no official records kept from behind closed doors).

Yet Hamilton put his partisanship aside and helped get Madison's arguments in the document passed

True Federalists and others of good conscience agreed ahead of time to do what was best for the struggling nation .. compromise was key, but like during the War for Independence, they all stuck together for a greater cause.

Right Wing Conservatives who have taken over the Republican Party should be taken to task for rejecting what made America a great nation -- compromise and a cause greater than ideological purity

You forgot to mention that Benjamin Franklin fought to have the rights of Nudists enshrined in the Bill of Rights, but George Washington and other prudes called down damnation and fire and brimstone on anyone who would support freedom for naked bodies.

Washington is reported to have said "If god wanted men to run around naked, he would not have invented clothes."

Seeing Ben nude would have stopped the nudity movement on its own.
