Hamas leader admits 'Palestinian' identity is invented
Tuesday, April 03, 2012 | Ryan Jones

US Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has come under a lot of fire for saying that the "Palestinians" are an invented people. ...

Hamas Minister of the Interior and of National Security Fathi Hammad basically backed up Gingrich's assessment, acknowledging that the roots of most "Palestinians" are elsewhere in the Middle East, and that the Palestinian label is only a thin veneer.

Those pushing for a Palestinian state try to paint the Palestinian Arabs as somehow distinct from the Arabs round-about, and therefore in need of their own state. Not so, said Hammad. "Every Palestinian, in Gaza and throughout Palestine, can prove his Arab roots - whether from Saudi Arabia, from Yemen, or anywhere. We have blood ties."

More than that, Hammad stated that the true regional background of most "Palestinians" is not in "Palestine."

"Brothers, half of the Palestinians are Egyptians and the other half are Saudis," exclaimed the Hamas minister.

Hammad's remarks were undoubtedly never intended for a Western audience. Rather, he was pleading with Egypt and other neighboring states to supply Hamas-ruled Gaza with free fuel, which Hammad said Hamas would use "in order to continue to wage Jihad."

Palestine was created and its international borders were defined in 1922. Everyone whose normal residence was inside those borders at that time became Palestinian citizens. Race, religion, or national origin was irrelevant.

Palestine was invented during the Roman Empire when the Roman pagans called Israel by the Latin "palestine". The Roman Empire dissolved 1500 years ago.

The Judean revolt against Rome was led by [Jewish rebel] Bar Kochba in 132-135 CE. The immediate causes of this rebellion are obscure. Its result was not: [Roman Emperor] Hadrian crushed the revolt and banned Jews from Judea.

The Romans now designated this territory by a political neologism, "Palestine" [a Latin form of "Philistine"], in a deliberate effort to denationalize Jewish/Judean territory. And, finally, Hadrian eradicated Jewish Jerusalem, erecting upon its ruins a new pagan city, Aelia Capitolina.

In 70 AD, after a siege marked by starvation and terror crucifixions, the Roman army broke through the walls of Jerusalem. Not only did they kill thousands of Jews, they laid waste to the Temple, the only place on Earth, according to Biblical law, where Jews could worship God.

It was the death of the religion of Priests and sacrifices described by the Hebrew Bible. But, it would not be the death of Judaism. In the years ahead, some of the greatest religious minds in history would struggle to reinvent the religion of Moses and David.

But, the Jews would be forced to work during a period of almost inconceivable bloodshed and turmoil. They would watch their people be expelled from Jerusalem on pain of death and see the name of their homeland changed from Judea to Palestine

Unless & until Israel ends the occupation by finding an incentive to offer the Arab countries to grant their Palestinians a right of return back to their indigenous homelands, there will be no lasting peace.

In other words, Pali Arabs have no rights in Israel.

Palestine Mandate borders were created ... not a Palestinian State.
In 1948 Israel was established as the Jewish Homeland and as a result:
Israel - 23,000 days of STATEHOOD and still winning! :clap2:
"Palestine" - 0 days of statehood and still WHINING! :eusa_boohoo:

Palestine was still there after the end of the mandate. Palestine existed separate from the mandate.

A dispute regarding the status of the territories was settled by an Arbitrator appointed by the Council of the League of Nations. It was decided that Palestine and Transjordan were newly created states according to the terms of the applicable post-war treaties.
