Immigration benefits the country.

I agree 100% as long as it is legal and orderly. We dont need swarms of desperate people sinking the life boat as it were. But we can let people in in a way that does not reduce the quality of life of those already here, otherwise all sink to the lowest common denominator in a mad race to the lowest cost and eventually slavery of the masses.

Silicon Valley would be a shadow of itself without it.

Well there are about 2,500,000 Americans with degrees in CompSci who have given up ever working their field. Perhaps some of them could have been retrained to do pretty much the same thing the H1-Bs do now?

Your protectionist policies do not benefit all Americans. They hurt most Americans. They cost Americans by raising the cost of labor, making goods more expensive and reducing aggregate income. They benefit the few - those who otherwise would not have lost their jobs - at the expense of the many through privilege via government laws.

Henry Ford proved you wrong. By paying more than the market demanded, he was able to expand the consumer market for his vehicles and Ford prospered. We all benefit from having jobs, better pay, a growing consumer market and the stability that is derived politically and economically.

Of course the government can and does go too far in almost everything it does, but I prefer the mess ups of a regulated market to the chaos of the jungle and I think most Americans do and benefit from these instruments of imposed order.

Retreating to within a shell and erecting protectionist barriers is a sign of weakness and decline.

Well, dude you know its going to happen. Hollande, once he gets elected in France, is going to FUBAR the EMU and the world is very likely to fall into reflexive protectionism. It is sort of a macroeconomic flinch when severe depressions set in and we are going to have a doozey in the next couple of years, maybe even this year.

No fiction.reality.we dont tolerate it here in ga.

A few years ago, when Congress was being stupid and threatening to hold up passage of new H1s, Microsoft threatened to move much of their operations to Canada.

Many companies are reliant on H visas. Banning them will cause companies to move out of America and lead to job losses.

Toro, why would a multinational bring in workers on an H-1B to do jobs that could be done outside the states? These companies exported all those jobs a long time ago.

The H-1B program has nothing to do with saving US jobs and everything to do with getting labor at substandard wages.

"The U.S. Census Bureau reports that, counting only U.S.-born individuals, there are 101,000 with an engineering degree who are unemployed, another 244,000 who are not working or not looking for work and therefore not counted in unemployment statistics, and an additional 1.47 million who have an engineering degree but are not working as an engineer."

Trump Model: Felt Like 'Slave' Working for Donald's Agency

So Donald Trump wants to make America great again and says he's against hiring illegals and he's against h-1b visas? Bullshit!

And it also sounds like Trump is agreeing with us liberals that the rich and corporations have been screwing over the American workers by pitting us against foreign workers who will work for much less. $75K a year is pretty cheap for a model. AND on top of that, Trump doesn't even pay his slaves what he promised them.

Trump is a cheater and liar. He told this girl he would pay her $75K a year and told Uncle Sam she was full time. But then got her over here and didn't pay her and claims she wasn't full time? Says they had a hard time finding her work? Then why the fuck bring her over here in the first place? Can't find any pretty American models Mr. Trump? What a joke.

Ah, "whatever." The universal signal for surrender.

Lol, whatever makes you sleep better, dear.

You just are not worth the time to respond to other than simple things like this.

I recognized your surrender the first time, you don't have to keep giving up over and over. What are you, French?
I went back to see what you said to him that might cause him to surrender and I saw nothing you said was at all intelligent, wise, clever or thought provoking. What should he surrender to?

We all surrender to your snarky douchbag comments. They/you aren't even worth replying to. Don't you get that?

More likely the opposite. Without access to a means to bring their workers in, especially management, to work, then companies like Nestle would have no reason to build in the US and every reason not to.

They dont need to 'bring workers in.'

They need to hire American workers, dude.

You would invest millions of dollars in building a company which you could not even visit and make decisions for during a crisis or incident because you don't have the right papers? You couldn't send your mechanics in to fix broken specialty equipment? You couldn't even send your IT guy in to fix a computer program issue? So BP shouldn't have been able to bring in anybody to work on its oil spill?

There are unemployed and underemployed Americans that can do all that.

Find them and hire them.

Excuse me? I don't even know what you just said. Can you say it again only clearer? Are you saying we need to continue with the h-1b visa program?

For one, I doubt there are engineers who have given up trying to find work and if there are, we need to stop allowing foreigners in and that will force companies to hire these people who currently they are not calling back when they receive their resumes.

Very simple. If Nestle doesn't make it here they don't sell it here.

No one wants to ban any and all h-b1 visas. We want them to onnly be used when no american can be found to do the job.

And we all know they make the criteria for getting the job very high when they are looking for an American but then lower the criteria when they finally get to hire an Indian. In other words they don't want to hire an American. It isn't that they can't find one.

And this problem can be solved. If we need more engineers, companies that need engineers need to start giving out scholarships and encourage Americans to go into these fields of study.

And they can even get the college grads cheap if they give them a scholarship. Part of the scholarship agreement is that you have to work for the company for 4 years at X rate. After that they can ask for raises.

Point is, lots of ideas on how we can get Americans to do these jobs.

Protectionism is weak and self-defeating.
Yea, that's why every other country does it and their vital industries aren't in big trouble like ours is.

Don't ask why the poor have never been poorer then and why so many middle class people aren't doing as good as they were 10 years ago. When you sent their high paying manufacturing job overseas, that's what did it.

So you are a libertarian?

So you can go interview for a job they never intend on giving you because you'll want an American wage?
