Guyana becomes 7th South American state to recognize Palestinian independence - Haaretz Daily Newspaper | Israel News

Following Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile, Guyana has become the seventh South American nation to recognize an independent Palestinian state, Al Jazeera reported on Thursday.

Last week, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported that Chilean President Sebastian Pinera announced that he officially recognizes an independent Palestinian state, following the official recognition of Palestine by other Latin American countries.

As someone who has been following the actions in South America as pertaining to Palestine in the last year, this only continues to get more interesting.

And another is soon to follow:

Uruguay also announced that they planned to join Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia in recognizing a Palestinian state, and al-Maliki said that they would formally do so in March 2011.

Some day it will be every country in the world vers. Israel and the U.S. concerning Palestine.

Hopefully our politicians will see the light and change policy towards Israel also.

Because Israel is No different now than fascist and racist South Africa was during the apartheid. :doubt:

This clearly shows that the Israeli State is separate from the Palestinian State and that the Palestinian State is separate from the Israeli state. This silences the sick proposition of a single state which would just turn into continuous fighting al al Belgian, ex-Yugoslavian, etc. situation which is what PF and Hamas want to see.

It's not a bad thing in its entirety for from this recognition comes the understanding that Israel is a Sovereign State.

But in practical terms, it has as much sense as a medium recognizing her victim's uncle Harry during a seance.

French Guyana, of course. French. Which is almost known for its European space agency launch facility, almost unknown for a floating-point mistake, that sent one arian into a bog and unknown for a lovely jungle warfare training center, full of creeping, crawling, wiggling and swimming shit. Humidity, clay, mud. A long story short - it's a pathetic warning to Israel in conjunction with the Lebanon crisis.

Yes, but it extends what is important. It's not as though this will change anything. They need a Veto to change anything.

Turkey is lobbying. A veto will veto their demand for a veto.

Turkey has prepared an initiative for a Muslim country to have the veto right at the United Nations, sources told World Bulletin.

After his speech, AK Party Mus Deputy Seracettin Karagiz said, "the United Nations has more than 60 Muslim countries, but none have the right to veto" and asked if there is something to change this situation.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded to Karayagiz's question, saying "it is important for Muslim world of one billion to find a better representation in the UN."

"We are working on this issue. We talked about it during my last visit to Libya," Erdogan said. Sources said that Turkey started working behind the scenes about this issue after gaining a temporary UN Security Council membership.

England, France, USA, Russia and China have veto powers in the United Nations. In recent years, Germany and Japan also try to be included in this group. In order to include a sixth country who will have the veto right, the UN Convention should be changed. Experts believe this effort requires diplomatic lobbying for a long time.

This non expert believes a very, very long time. Turkey was tossed away from EU. They run to Libya and other Muslim countries to see if they can take revenge.

Turkey is the Russian Last Bastion now that Georgia is gone. If Turkey turns fundamentalist, it will not be America who comes for that boundary. It will be Russia...

Our book tells us that all sides will be against us. In our end of times scenario, the US does not factor in our defense.

Geography Fail
If it was French Guiana, it would be a big deal as French Guiana, as part of France, is part of the European Union,

That country has been beyond ridiculous for quite some time, of course. Guzzling vodka with elks doesn't improve their image.

Turkey hasn't the cloud to seek a Veto for its own, meant is permanent member of UNSC.
But, this cloud do also not have France and UK. Their representation within the UNSC doesn't anymore reflect the political+economical world we live in today. UNSC is a relict of a long invalidated world (immediate post-WW2).
Both need to be kicked out of UNSC in a possible reform-process of that body.
Germany also lobbies for a permanent UNSC seat of its own. So with Germany it would be 3 European Countries within UNSC. Over-representation of the Europeans like it was with the seat and voting-share of the Europeans within the IMF up to 2010.

I don't believe, that the UNSC will widen its permanent members, therefore it will loose its meaning as ascending heavyweights like Brazil and India have no permanent representation within UNSC.
But, let's say, that UNSC will be reformed in the near future, then the national European countries need to be kicked out and 1 seat established for the EU. Also one seat for the OIC, and for credibility there also needs to be a seat for the African Union.
Representation through 'commonwealths/unions' will not really work in the UNSC, as immediate decisions in the UNSC (crisis-management) can't be really made as those 'commonwealths/unions' first have to decide on their own what their common stance is. This will lead to ineffectiveness, you just have to look at the EU how long it takes for them to come to a decision as they have 27 members.

The G-20 is the best framework to manage world-affairs today.
A Ranking benchmarked on economic size with some exceptions like Iran which so far hasn't joined the G-20, but needs to be within G-20 also due to its economic size.

What is this cloud to which you speak? Are you talking about climate change?

But let's say

Let's not say...
