Gtowing problem. Yeah firefighters are getting ambushed left and right lol.

Growing yes of course, but as as in ambushes or heinous killings in these manors against the innocent & (unarmed) now, and of course it's not nessesarily pertaining to a certain set of people or circumstances, but it seems we are going madder and madder, and this more and more these days, but you keep cool as you are in your denial until the next poor people are gunned down while the cops are still in route to get there. The gunman shouldn't know where the resistance will come from, and that is what we should be putting into their minds now, as well as strict and lethal punishment to meet the crime if they aren't such cowards that they kill themselves first like they have been doing.

We should adjust quickly according to need in this nation, and if there are solutions that are needed, then we need to make them work even if temporary until things simmer back down a bit.

I know what is going to happen: (1) assault weapons and (2) large capacity magazines are going to be prohibited and confiscated. Crimes are going to get a 10 to 20 year add on to any sentence when a gun is used. A murder that results from a gun will be automatic execution within a specified time, all cases moved to the head of the line. That will slow the militia far right as well as the inner city gangs.

Still would have happened of course, but the outcome may have been different, where as we may have had no fatalities on our side, and nothing but the perp dead on his side.

All you people who are advocating for firefighters to carry weapons are aware of the fact that in extreme heat (i.e. a fire), ammo can cook off right? If they are armed, then they're going to have to take time to make sure they don't have a weapon before they go into the flames, because otherwise it could become a real problem.

More guns isn't the solution.

I guess I will take this one for those who are this bat crap crazy ignorant in life........Kidding me right, who said anything about them carrying weapons or ammo into a fire ? They if were armed, would only use their weapons and their ammo if need be in an extreme situation that called for such to be the case, and only when come upon a scene under fire, and that fire is being directed straight at them where as they would take appropriate action in order to secure such a scene as first responders to such a situation, in which they would have come under hostile fire as this situation was against them. Again in this world that is becoming more and more hostile in these ways, we had best wake up and smell the coffee that is brewing now all around us. I know that I wouldn't want to be a first responder without a weapon these days, and it would be my wishes to be able to defend myself and my co-workers if need be.

Maybe we need to send the police along with every call now by protocol, and as an escort, because we darn sure don't need these people being gunned down like this in America for whom are just there to help.

A few points...

This idea has already been tried. In the South anyway, it's called "Public Safety Officer", meaning they are both cops and firemen, they are trained and equipped to do both, and the results have not been good. They dont specialize in either, and therefore are less effective in both. They are 40 hour-a-week employees, you can only put so much on them. Now...if right wingers in the South wanna jack the pay up, increase training budgets, benefits, etc, etc, etc, you may be able to attract and retain better folks to "Public Safety", but they lose out to the regular, traditional Police and Fire depts that are seperate.

Police are already stretched thin. We dont have the money (as right wingers like to say) to send a cop to every single call a fire dept has to go to. It would only take a few years before the cost of that starts resulting in Tea Party speeches about too much gubmint speeeeendin'.

People have been bitching for years about the "militarization" of our police depts. What those depts saw, in advance, was this turn to a more violent, unstable population that we are starting to see unfold, and they were getting prepared for it.
