What instance are you talking about? Libya? Those 'armed citizens' had a lot of help from outside and a lot more reason to fight than most US citizens. As for Afghanistan (or Vietnam), they are people who have been resisting for generations, know their terrain intimately, have nothing to lose and are fighting foreigners.

On the other hand, how long did the resistance hold out in Sarajevo? Everyone thought it would take months in a city and with high civilian casualties to get rid of the snipers alone . They were all dead in a week.

Around ten percent of the population was involved in the war for independence. They were lean, learned, forward-looking folks. There like is very rare today.

Macho chest pounding won't get it done. Dream all you like, the road to violent uprising in America would be so mined with propaganda that even those few convinced to actually shoot at someone would likely be regarded as terrorists.

It isn't with guns that things will change for the better; it is with better ideas.

It wasn't just Libya, it was Libya, Tunisia, Egypt and Yemen where the governments where overthrown by the citizens and we have yet to see if the citizens will be successful in Syria. As for Sarajevo, the very fact that it is a city in nation called Bosnia-Herzegovina rather than in a nation called Yugoslavia, after a 4 year siege by Yukoslav and Serb forces, shows they where also successful in their attmepts to overthrow the govt that ruled over them. Your statement about them being dead in a week is ridiculous. They held out under continuous attacks and bombardment for four years with over 50,000 wounded and 11,000 killed. As for what our population was that fought in the War of Independence, they where from all walks of life, from Newspaper magnates to simple shop keepers, to farmers. As for your asinine comment about "macho chest pounding" here's a fact for you to dwell on. Not every citizen is weak willed, and willing to suffer having their rights trampled on by anyone, even the govt. and that nonsense about it not being guns but ideas that will bring change for the better, you obviously know nothing about world history.

Sorry, not everyone in the US Military is willing to follow orders like good little Nazis when those orders include disarming the US population contrary to what the Constitution states. I am a former Marine, in a family of former and active duty Marines, with a Soldier or two thrown in, and am still heavily involved with active, retired and former military personnel and we have discussed this issue many times, and you're wrong, not all military members would follow un-Constituional or illegal orders. As for your statement about it being a small group of extremists who would be quikly and easily defeated, you seem to have ignored the FACTS that I provided you where a "small group of extremists" defeated the 2 most powerful armies in the history of mankind in Afghanistan. The only thing you got right out of all the posts you've contributed to this discussion is that no one would bet on the thughtless over the thinkers, that's correct, nobody would bet on the socialist democrats to win.

Wow, you really are ignorant of US History, world history and current events aren't you. Let me educate you a bit. The insurrections in this nation's history, current and past, where almost always................you guessed it, IN THE CITIES. Every major act of violent civil disobedience, or insurrection if you will, ALL happened IN THE CITIES. Damn, your willingness to show your ignorance is amazing. Most people would be ashamed to show so many how little they know about a subject they are bloviating on, but not you. You actually seem proud of your ignorance. I don't know whether to applaud your lack of shame on this or pity you for it. What I will do is give you some advice my daddy gave me and my brothers when we were growing up. I can see it now. A Govt unit made up of fat, donut eating, ticket writing police officers going door to door in a neighborhood while a Patriot up the street sees what going on, arms himself and his family, and when the cops come to his door, he tells them to kiss his ass and piss off. They either leave and send in a SWAT team, who will eventiually kill the Patriot and most likely his wife and whatever able children he has chosen to arm. most likely taking casualities themselves, or they decide to play hero and die in said patriot's yard. At which time SWAT comes and does what I stated above. Either way, how many dead twelve year olds and mothers do you think it will take before the Socialist govt decides taking away American's guns ain't worth the trouble? You're flipping idiots if you think they would call in the Army to do this. This would be strictly a Law Enforcement issue at first, that's if they could get enough cops to even go door to door and take away law abiding citizens firearms, maybe escalating to a situation where the Army is needed eventually, but most likely the govt would back off before letting the Military loose on it's own citizens. Believe me, after seeing govt SWAT teams slaughtering 9, 10, 12 16yr old kids and their moms and dads in their own homes just because they wish to exercise their God given rights, you're gonna get a LOT of Soldiers that will tell the govt to kiss their asses and piss off. You jackasses are aware that the vast majority of the US military are conservative thinking patriots who not only believe in but have sworn to defend the Constitution. I might add, defend that Constitution against ALL enemies, both foreign and DOMESTIC and if you send are part of the forces going door to door to take away law abiding citizen's rights, you are a domestic enemy. You liberals make me laugh when you think the Military you freaking hate, and 99% of you know nothing about, would all side with the forces that are tearing this nation apart and would support killing the US citizens they are sworn to protect just to back the socialist democrat's anti-gun, anti-freedom, anti-Constitutional agenda.
