Obama Goes it Alone on Gun Control
The Radical-in-Chief ignores the Constitution and the Jihadist threat.

Wiping away tears that eluded him when he spoke about the jihadist massacres in Paris and San Bernardino, President Obama condemned congressional inaction in the face of gun violence during remarks he delivered from the East Room of the White House on Tuesday morning. The president vowed to fill in the void through executive action. The most egregious of these measures is a wholesale re-writing of the definition of what constitutes a “seller” in order to extend the reach of federal government control over all gun owners. Obama listed this as his top priority action, ahead of what he described as “smart and effective enforcement of gun safety laws that are already on the books.”

Enforcing the laws already on the books is the responsibility of the executive branch. Making new laws or changing existing laws is the responsibility of the legislative branch.

Apparently, President Obama has learned nothing from the Supreme Court’s reversal of his unconstitutional recess appointments and the judicial stay issued against his unconstitutional immigration amnesty executive orders. Obama gave little comfort to skeptics when he claimed in his White House remarks that “I believe in the Second Amendment. It’s there written on the paper.”

The problem is that Obama believes the Constitution is only just a piece of paper, which he can erase and then use the blank page to write his own rules of governance. After all, this is the same man who complained years ago that the Constitution says “what the federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf.”

As president, Obama has gone even further, railing against the separation of powers. If Congress does not act the way he thinks it should, he will just proceed all by himself. In his mind, he is doing something he must on behalf of the American people right now, while the “gun lobby” is holding Congress “hostage.”

As usual, President Obama raised strawman arguments to justify his latest power grab.

For example, Obama claimed in his East Room remarks announcing his gun control executive actions that “we are the only advanced country on Earth that sees this kind of mass violence erupt with this kind of frequency. It doesn't happen in other advanced countries. It’s not even close.”

Obama’s claim is misleading.

First of all, we do not have complete data from countries such as China and Russia to draw any meaningful conclusions. Secondly, raw total numbers of mass shootings tell less in terms of real comparisons than normalizing the numbers utilizing some constant unit of population. According to a study conducted by the Crime Prevention Research Center, which compared annual death rates per million people from mass public shootings between the United States and European countries from 2009 to mid-2015, the United States ranks 9th. The United States has the same ranking when comparing the frequency of mass public shootings during the same time period. This data, by the way, was compiled before the deadly jihadist mass shootings in Paris that claimed 130 lives last November.

Moreover, deaths in general that have occurred as a result of gun violence have declined sharply during the last twenty years. According to a Pew Research Center analysis of death certificate data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “The nation’s overall gun death rate has declined 31% since 1993.” President Obama is deliberately distorting the scope of the problem to convince Americans that we are facing an urgent crisis which he must address immediately to resolve.

Obama's gun control lies
By Michael Filozof

In what was surely the most sickening display of presidential demagoguery in the history of the United States, President Obama wept – wept – crocodile tears in a calculated effort to gain the support of the ignorant, the clueless, and the stupid while announcing multiple violations of the Bill of Rights yesterday.

Obama's speech alternated between effeminate weeping, pleading, and sanctimonious, holier-than-thou indignation as he presented a litany of falsehoods, straw man arguments, and outright lies as justification for his plan to strip the American public of constitutionally enumerated rights:

  1. The "Gun Show Loophole" Lie: There is no "gun show loophole." Contrary to leftist mythology, criminals and terrorists don't skirt existing laws and purchase crateloads of guns at gun shows. Probably 95% or more of the vendors at gun shows are licensed dealers, who have to abide by the same federal regulations as they do in brick-and-mortar stores. Individual sellers who make an occasional sale are exempt from dealer regulations. Has Obama ever been to an actual gun show? The problem is not that there are too many individual sellers, but too few – dealers often charge inflated prices, while the individual offering a great deal because he needs a few bucks quick is a rarity.
Obama's real plan is to ultimately ban all private sales (including between family members) so that a paper trail exists on as many firearms as possible to facilitate government confiscation.

News Station Tests Whether 'Good Guy with a Gun' Can Stop a Bad Guy

What if a bad guy with a gun starts shooting?

Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA attempted to put to the test the adage, declared by National Rifle Association's Wayne LaPierre after the Sandy Hook massacre, that "the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

"Many Texans choose to arm themselves," the WFAA report began, "but how prepared are the 'good guys' to protect their own families... and even the public? How would they would perform if a 'bad guy' with a gun starts shooting?"

The station retained two experts to create an exercise that would put their readiness to the test: Travis Bond, the managing member of the DFW Shooters Academy in Highland Village, an instructor with 32 years of training and law enforcement experience, and for the "bad guy," Shawn Clary, a SWAT team member and tactical instructor with 22 years experience. Clary was carrying an AR-15 that also shot plastic pellets.

For the good guys, the station chose three men and a woman with concealed handgun licenses and various degrees of training. The participants were armed with helmets, goggles and training pistols with plastic pellets. They were given no details except that they would be encountering an armed assailant in different office space scenarios. They were not told Clary was wearing body armor, which meant in order to kill or wound the bad guy, they would have to score a hit to the head, neck, or pelvis.

There were two scenarios - a busy office space with tall cubicles in which workers could not see each other, and a conference room crowded with coworkers. First Clary played the role of an angry co-worker who fired warning shots and then methodically made his way past cubicles, pretending to kill workers along the way.

The first participant stayed in his cubicle, crouching and using his chair as cover. He struck Clary with what would have been two fatal rounds. “He put rounds right into my upper torso and head area above where the body armor is,” Clary said. “He did very well.”

The next participant, scrambling into a darkened cubicle, took cover and opened fire, scoring a couple of fatal wounds as well. “I received some rounds in the arm and got one in the head,” Clary said. “That would be a kill shot.”

IN JACKSON MISSISSIPPI, A MAN’S HOME IS NOT HIS CASTLE
“Manic” DA prosecutes law-abiding citizen who acted in self-defense.

July 21, 2016 began as any other day for Wayne Parish. The Crystal Springs resident woke up, bid his family farewell and went to work at Performance Oil on McDowell Road in Jackson Mississippi. But the transformative events of that fateful day changed Parish’s life forever. On that day, the hard-working, law-abiding family man crossed paths with a 17-year-old delinquent named Charles McDonald.

Despite his youth, McDonald was already an aspiring criminal and a recidivist offender. On July 21, his mother, Yvette Mason-Sherman, tried to take him to the Henley-Young Youth Detention facility, which is located next to Performance Oil where Parish worked. McDonald had already been to the youth detention facility eight times in the past two years. During the ride, he jumped out of his mother’s car and ran off.

...

The police were called and dispatched but Parish exited the store with a .38 Smith & Wesson and ordered McDonald, who was still trying to break into the car, to leave the premises. Instead of leaving, McDonald lunged at Parish in an effort to grab his gun. The two struggled for control of the revolver for less than 30 seconds but it likely seemed like an eternity for Parish. Toward the end of the life and death struggle, which was captured on surveillance video, McDonald, who is still seen grabbing at Parish, falls to the ground from gunshot wounds to the upper torso. He was later pronounced dead at University of Mississippi Medical Center.

...

This case has not garnered much national attention but it makes the injustice inflicted on Wayne Parish no less egregious. For the sake of justice, let’s hope that when the legal dust settles, Parish gets to go home to his family and Smith ends up wearing striped pajamas, courtesy of the state of Mississippi.
