Almost everyone accepts it for what it is...a goof. There are a handful of less than human(possibly robots) visitors and piss ants that feel it is in their program to challenge stupid things on the internet. 
Watching this show on NOVA tonight makes me wonder who on USMB is a computer programed to respond as a human on a message board. I'm sure it is happening on some MB. The technology is here. A message board would be a perfect environment to perfect the conversational skills of a robot.
