Starting in Middle School, teach kids about money, savings, investment, innovation, adding value and entrepreneurship. Make it required in HS.

Study the habits of successful people.

1% addition might be very conservative estimate

Agreed.

High School should be more about how to live in today's world, and how to be responsible for yourself.

I have taught my kids how to invest in the stock market. They are doing quite well. They arent day traders but long term investors, where their dividends over 20 years will be paying in the 10s of thousands possibly 100's of thousands. In todays, liberal land, no one is supposed to be able to fend for themselves, but rely on the government from cradle to grave with just enough to survive on, while the liberal elites jet set around with their uber wealth stolen from the rest of US. Fuck the public indoctrination stations(called schools) start teaching your own children and grandchildren how to make it in todays world, for the government and schools dont give a shit about "the children".

1987 DOW jones ind. was 2500
2019 DOW jones ind is 26,000+

We already do. It is called Life Skills and is taught in middle and high schools.

Next silly idea that already exists?

At least one semester of macroeconomics, at least one semester of personal economics, required. Don't pass, don't graduate.
Macroeconomics? How many other interesting classes do you want to throw out so these kids go stark raving nuts listening to a bunch of hogwash they will never use nor understand.
"Hogwash"?

I think that having a solid understanding of how our economy works will give them a better understanding of how their personal economy works. Understanding capitalism itself better will help them understand how to better function within it. Business. Economic forces. Inflation/Deflation. Monetary & Fiscal Policy. Supply & demand. Credit. The movement of money.

Or do you want them nasty Nazi Alinsky radical pinko Hitler socialists tellin' em' that commie-nism is the way to go n' stuff?

If this is too complicated for you, that isn't my problem.

We already teach it, just not to the ridiculous extreme you want. Maybe if you blowhards would actually learn what is taught in school you would not appear to be so ignorant yourselves.

No we don't already teach what we're talking about.

Funny that you would call me ignorant.

Only one small problem there...The kiddos will likely get taught Keynesian voodoo econ.
It would have to be standardized. There are just too many people who start off with zero understanding of the fundamentals.

When was the last time you sat down and reviewed your state graduation requirements? Unless you have a severe personality disorder, it simply is not something you or anyone else would take the time to do. Your comments say you have not done so.

No, I'm a financial advisor, and I see the effects of an under-educated populace regularly.

And I remain curious about why you'd be so emotional about this.

I hate know-it-alls who bash education without the benefit of having one themselves.

You people are pathetic with your pontification of the obvious. You slap each other on the back for re-inventing the wheel.

Yes, I can tell that you hate. I'm sure glad I don't have to go through life like that.

I'm not "bashing" education. I'm recommending one small addition.

And I suspect I have more education than you.

Are you like this in real life?
