Due to concerns about offended those who do not celebrate Halloween, Monday is going to be "Black & Orange" day at my daughter's school. That was the one of the highlights of elementary school when I was a kid....wearing our costums to school and parading them in the gym, in front of the entire school. What a bummer.

How about "dress up as a fictional character" day. That would pretty much
be the same as Halloween. People are insane!

Hey, now THAT'S a good idea. School board admin are wusses, they'll probably have a ready made excuse for that one too. :2guns:

It really doesn't bother me that there are people like this in the world,
It bothers me that we are forced to go to such extreme measures to please
them. You can't make everyone happy, why not try to please the majority.

Why don't they release a Holiday schedule at enrolment?
If the parents see something they don't like, take em somewhere else.

Now that I think about it.....
Something like this happened to me in school.
The teachers had this meeting planned during the last 3 hours of the day.
They wanted to let us go home early but guess what happened???
So there we were with no teachers in the auditorium watching a movie.
The coaches (who were watching us) had to turn the movie off because
some ass wipe kid called his mommy and told her we were watching
ALADIN!!!!! That's right, Aladin. She claimed that it promoted black magic.
They couldn't get in the library so they let us all go home. The woman who
complained, turned out to be the same woman who didn't want her kid to come
home in the first place. She was notorious for bitching at the board for
everything. That kid got his ass kicked on a weekly basis until he graduated.
His parents had trained him to protest anything that seemed fun to us,
and no one liked him. They protested senior skip day, off campus lunch,
certain school plays, and they were first in line to protest the seperation
of church and school. They didn't want that at all, keep Jesus in school,
but don't let the kids leave the grounds for lunch.

We don't have a Halloween party at our school either. This is due to the fact that the school board decided they can't spare the instruction time, and they had to limit it to 2 parties per year. The teachers voted for Valentine's Day and Christmas.

I can see why they don't want to glorify violence & sex in schools, since some of the costumes are violent/gory/slutty. Seems like they could still do a costume parade, though. Just tell the kids to keep it clean.
