Gangs love these no questions asked buy backs. That's how they dispose of guns that have their ballistics on file.

dear silly woman they have to hand them back.

the police can then trace the guns if they prove to have been involved in a crime

    At least its voluntary.

But you are right that they can be used to "dispose" of guns used in crimes.

They also fly in the face of supposed penalties for owning illegal guns. Why follow the rules when you can just get rid of your gun no questions asked?

Its an anoynmous gun buyback. Yes, they get the gun, but they can't tie it to the person handing it in legally.

    Dumbass.

You are, by far, the dumbest person I've ever encountered. Ever.

And they do! That's how they know the guns turned in were involved in crimes. But since the buy back is no questions asked, they don't take the names or addresses of the people who turn them in. Show up, turn in the gun and get your gift card. Those criminals that are wanted just have someone else turn the gun in. Every gun turned in is run through ballistics if only so the police know what to take off the hot list.

No one has objections to gun buy backs. They serve a useful purpose. Gun traced to crime. Gun gets turned in. Now the arms seller on the street corner needs to sell another gun. It's the cycle of commerce. As far as getting guns off the street, they are useless. All the buy back programs that we have had have not really reduced the number of guns on the street. It's not like they turn in the gun and never get another one.

TM is convinced that people don't need ID to vote, but they will happily produce their identification to turn in a gun on a no questions asked buy back program.
