What on earth?

This headline blew me away when I came across is on – yes, a Breitbart site!!!

Greenpeace co-founder Patrick Moore told a Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, “There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years.”

Moreover, the Canadian ecologist, who was a member of Greenpeace from 1971-86, admitted that Greenpeace intentionally used faulty computer models and scare tactics in promoting claims man-made gases are heating up the planet. More told the Senate committee that he decided to leave Greenpeace because it was more concerned with politics than it was with the environment.

AGU Statement on Climate Change

Human-induced climate change requires urgent action.

Humanity is the major influence on the global climate change observed over the past 50 years. Rapid societal responses can significantly lessen negative outcomes.

“Human activities are changing Earth’s climate. At the global level, atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping greenhouse gases have increased sharply since the Industrial Revolution. Fossil fuel burning dominates this increase. Human-caused increases in greenhouse gases are responsible for most of the observed global average surface warming of roughly 0.8°C (1.5°F) over the past 140 years. Because natural processes cannot quickly remove some of these gases (notably carbon dioxide) from the atmosphere, our past, present, and future emissions will influence the climate system for millennia.

Extensive, independent observations confirm the reality of global warming. These observations show large-scale increases in air and sea temperatures, sea level, and atmospheric water vapor; they document decreases in the extent of mountain glaciers, snow cover, permafrost, and Arctic sea ice. These changes are broadly consistent with long- understood physics and predictions of how the climate system is expected to respond to human-caused increases in greenhouse gases. The changes are inconsistent with explanations of climate change that rely on known natural influences.

Climate models predict that global temperatures will continue to rise, with the amount of warming primarily determined by the level of emissions. Higher emissions of greenhouse gases will lead to larger warming, and greater risks to society and ecosystems. Some additional warming is unavoidable due to past emissions.

The Geological Society of America - Position Statement on Climate Change

Climate Change
Adopted in October 2006; revised April 2010; March 2013

Position Statement
Decades of scientific research have shown that climate can change from both natural and anthropogenic causes. The Geological Society of America (GSA) concurs with assessments by the National Academies of Science (2005), the National Research Council (2011), and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2007) that global climate has warmed and that human activities (mainly greenhouse-gas emissions) account for most of the warming since the middle 1900s. If current trends continue, the projected increase in global temperature by the end of the twenty-first century will result in significant impacts on humans and other species. Addressing the challenges posed by climate change will require a combination of adaptation to the changes that are likely to occur and global reductions of CO2 emissions from anthropogenic sources.

Purpose
This position statement (1) summarizes the strengthened basis for the conclusion that humans are a major factor responsible for recent global warming; (2) describes the significant effects on humans and ecosystems as greenhouse-gas concentrations and global climate reach projected levels; and (3) provides information for policy decisions guiding mitigation and adaptation strategies designed to address the future impacts of anthropogenic warming.

I was always sceptical of man made climate change, especially when scientist say 'debate is over' when talking about climate, a massively complex system. But I did hear that man puts out more CO2 than all the volcanoes combined, not sure if that's true but if it were man made climate change would be hard to deny

Meanwhile, here's what real scientists are saying,

Now that global temperatures have not risen in 15 years, a number of scientists find themselves having great difficulty coming to terms with that new reality.

According to the USGS, man puts out over one hundred times as much CO2 as the volcanos in the world. We have increased the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere from 280 ppm to over 400 ppm.

Which produces more CO2, volcanic or human activity?

Gas studies at volcanoes worldwide have helped volcanologists tally up a global volcanic CO2 budget in the same way that nations around the globe have cooperated to determine how much CO2 is released by human activity through the burning of fossil fuels. Our studies show that globally, volcanoes on land and under the sea release a total of about 200 million tonnes of CO2 annually.

This seems like a huge amount of CO2, but a visit to the U.S. Department of Energy's Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC) website (Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC)) helps anyone armed with a handheld calculator and a high school chemistry text put the volcanic CO2 tally into perspective. Because while 200 million tonnes of CO2 is large, the global fossil fuel CO2 emissions for 2003 tipped the scales at 26.8 billion tonnes. Thus, not only does volcanic CO2 not dwarf that of human activity, it actually comprises less than 1 percent of that value.

A short time ago (geologically speaking) the question "Which produces more CO2, volcanic or human activity?" would have been answered differently. Volcanoes would have tipped the scale. Now, human presence, activity, and the resultant production of CO2, through the burning of fossil fuels, have all climbed at an ever-increasing rate. On the other hand, looking back through the comparatively short duration of human history, volcanic activity has, with a few notable disturbances, remained relatively steady.

None of the data supports CO2 driving climate on planet Earth, that fiction exists only in Mann's Tree rings and in the altered data fed into the AGWCult flawed computer models

Sure, they were dead wrong in the past, but going forward, their predictions will most certainly be true...really!

And the fact that CO2 levels were much higher in the past, before humans and their evil SUVs, well that should not be considered. No, it's the human race that dictates planetary evolution...

And let's just overlook that fact that modest amount of global warming, should it occur, would be highly beneficial to the natural world and human civilization.

Come on man, they really do know what's best for all us. :doubt:

Poor, poor Rocks....

Patrick Moore admits to everything you've been denying for years!
"It is a powerful convergence of interests among a very large number of elites, including politicians who want to make it seem as though they are saving the world, environmentalists who want to raise money and get control over very large issues like our entire energy policy, media for sensationalism, universities and professors for grants – you can’t hardly get a science grant these days without saying it has something to do with climate change,” he said."

Which has to do with what:cuckoo:

Your response only proves that you have been duped.

If an R or Con were to enrich themselves, based on flawed science while promoting their cause, you would be the first to condemn them. Why can't you see that Fat Albert is doing the same?

The helpless denialist cultists stink at the science, hence the endless threads like this raging about people that nobody cares about. The endless nutty conspiracies really are the best they can do.

Denialists, why are you prolonging your agony like this? Your cult is collapsing. Either bail out with the other rats, or go down the ship.

When you factor in the "study" that more than half of democrats surveyed aren't aware that the earth revolves around the sun you come to the conclusion that the radical left keeps kids ignorant in order to further their anti-America revolutionary agenda which includes the fake science of man-made global warming.

When you can't retort with logic, reason or specificity, childish name calling is always the best course of action. Well done!

One would think the average AGW cultist would be capable of connecting the dots. But...NO.

When the worldwide left, elitist leftists, UN, and nearly all western governments are fully behind AGW, (circumstantial proof AGW is political not science). Then add in the fact that the solution to AGW offered by these disgusting statists and elitists is more big controlling tyrannical government designed specifically to enrich and empower them. You'd think the average AGW believer would recognize a set up.

The bottom line is.......when bozo's like John Kerry are telling people to shut up and the President is saying "the debate is settled.....climate change is a fact" means the debate is rolling on like a freight train and their side is losing. Their side is in desperation mode.

Truth is.......climate change is nothing more than a distraction issue in 2014. The only place it will be an issue in the mid-terms is in far left districts where they will want to stir up the vote. Watch......none of the DUMS in contested districts will go near it because its a loser. People have ALOT more on their mind than stoopid climate change and the last thing they are going to want to look like is a k00k radical on the environment. To be sure, when the president says he's proposing a 1 billion "climate resilience fund" kinda tells you how seriously he takes this shit. I laughed when I heard 1 billion......we should all be happy. Its basically throwing a bone to the climate nutters.

People like Mammoth have the political IQ of a small soap dish.......think people are home sitting around the dinner table shitting their pants about climate change. All the polls show that in 2014, nobody gives a shit.......there are approximately 20 other issues they are more concerned with.( according to PEW). Anyway......how many voters are like the hysterical type like Mammoth who navigate the landscape waiting for a house to fall out of the sky and onto their head? The answer is very few.
