‘Green Jobs’ Website, but No Jobs Listed

Nancy Folbre: The Green Jobs Numbers - NYTimes.com

The study estimates an increase in direct employment of about 367,000 jobs, while indirect employment effects came to about one million – not a cure-all for an economy with more than 14 million unemployed, but a significant contribution.

The cost per job created varied considerably, and not all programs have moved forward as quickly as they should have. But as a report from Think Progress carefully documents, sensationalized assertions of a million dollars or more spent per job are misleading. Overall, the costs of green jobs creation, whether funded with public or private dollars, are lower than those in most other sectors of the economy, at an average of about $60,000 each. These jobs are likely to last for years, generating private cost-savings and important public benefits.

Retrofits to improve the energy efficiency of our existing building stock offer a particularly high rate of return.
Hmmm. Are Solyndra's jobs considered "created" or "saved"?

What a load of horseshit. When you ex out Solyndra and the other failed crap then yeah, the cost is lower. But when you calculate those in then Think Progress is flat assed wrong. Surprise, surprise.

When you X out American Motors, the whole American auto industry died, correct? Your logic is at it normal low level, Walleyes.

Strange you people hate industries that are adding jobs to the economy and creating energy for the use of that economy.

The right way to look at overall expectations in job growth is.........obviously..........to look at where investers expect the future to be 10 years down the road. Every other assessment is sentimental hogwash.................

Too.......the prevailing politics have everything to do with this topic, and lets face it.........the ideology that supports a green economy is about to be mothballed in about 10 months, thus, governmental support of green energy companies ( they cant survivie on their own) is going to be anemic.

And in the meantime............heres what the experts at the WSJ and Forbes are saying about where investors should be putting their $$$..................

Fossil Fuels vs Green Energy: Where To Invest?

oh.......and ps..........job growth in green energy has been a joke since 2003 when compared to overall job expansion.

“Green” job growth lagged overall job expansion since 2003 « Hot Air

ANd now we have Solyndra:2up:

Also according to Forbes...........Solyndra will have a significant impact on the future of clean energy..............

"Investors are looking for deals that dont involve government money"

What The Solyndra Bankruptcy Means For Clean Tech Investors - Forbes

The writing is on the wall despite efforts to paint it as being rosey. Its just not.............and its quite that simple. The irony is........when the Varsity comes to power and there is growth in the economy in coming years, it will open the door to greater investment in clean energy. With the progressives at the healm wanting government spending on anything and everything, its just not going to happen. Once this redistribution crap gets mothballed, clean energy innovation could well take off. When government revenues start rolling in, all kinds of clean energy stuff will boom but it is not politically feasible with confiscatory fiscal policy. If the progressives had any ability to think on the margin, some of their dreams could be realized.........indeed, the irony or ironies. Perhaps by some miracle........some progressives can come to realize that its all about having the ability to recognize "necessary tradeoffs". You cant have a nanny state AND a green economy........just doesnt work that way.

How many of these jobs would exist without government subsidies? Answer: almost none. The minute government stops subsidizing them, they will all disappear. If you think these jobs are the kind you can build an economy, you're sadly delusional. Spain tried the same thing, and it now suffers from 20% uneemployment.

Adding jobs? Surely you jest. Here in NV the greenies are all atwitter about a 700 million dollar loan to a green project in Tonopah NV (out in the middle of nowhere...even for this State!) that hopefully will create 645 temporary jobs then provide up to a maximum of 50 permanent jobs.

Not exactly a great investment. Especially considering it will be out of production in around 25 years and a toxic hazard at the end of its life.

As far as the auto industry goes, it should have been allowed to fail just like AIG should have been allowed to fail and all the banks that made stupid decisions. Instead they ahve all been rewarded for their abject failure. The banks, because the politicians are beholding to them and the auto industry to support the Unions that get them elected. In the end they have done this country a great harm because when the collapse comes (and it surely will) the damage will be that much greater.

The reason that there are no "Green Jobs" listed.

Is because all of the Green Job positions have already been filled by illegal aliens.

ie. picking Green lettuce, Green avocados, Green kiwis, Green peppers, etc.
