"Tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants used to cross into Greece from Turkey, but the wall and a trebling of border police on the Greek side has cut the numbers from 300 a day to 10-15 per month, according to Medecins Sans Frontieres.

While the fence, even during its construction, cut arrivals of illegal immigrants by land down by 95 percent, they have turned in increasing numbers to the sea and the Greek islands of the Aegean."

The fence did not help.

The guards did not help.

The combination of the two is what helped.

That's the point so many ignore. Building barriers is a waste without enough guards. Hiring more guards is a waste without providing a barrier to focus their efforts and slow down the people they are guarding against.

Do both or do neither.

We haven't done anything to stop them. In fact, ads running in Mexico are telling them to come on over.

Yea, we need to get serious. We're the only country that doesn't try to protect it's borders.

The Greeks were hung by their own petard. NOW they want to fix things.

It will be the same here. When the money runs out (you know that magic stuff that is available by government fiat-aka Obama money) and it will run out...then as if it had always been their, liberals, idea...all kinds of things like fences will look good.
