Greatest Movie of All Time?

I can't believe I'm not getting any love for "Joe vs. the Volcano"...

sheer genius. From the cinematography, to the music..... the writing... it's all there.

They had another one that was pretty good around the same time as Stripes. Private Benjamin with Goldie Hawn.

I cannot pick only one. Here are the top 10 best of all time, not in any particular order:

1. Gladiator
2. Braveheart
3. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
4. The 5th Element
5. Zulu
6. The Shawshank Redemption
7. The Green Mile
8. Forrest Gump
9. Casablanca
10. Airplane

If it was forced to chose one movie as the best, it would be from this list.

Super List. Love it and agree. I would only add 'Raiders Of The Lost Ark."

Westerns
True Grit, but Glenn Cambell is a horrible actor and Kim Darby was worse.
High plain Drifter
Pale Rider
Treasure of the Serria madre
Little big man
Fist full of dollars
3:10 to Yuma
Rio Bravo
Magnificent seven
Fist full of dollars
Dancing with wolves
The good the bad and the ugly
Jerimiah Johson
not in any paticular order.

You left out

The Man who shot Liberty Valance
The Searchers
Destry Rides Again
She wore a Yellow Ribbon

For westerns, agree with both poster's lists. Excellent. The only one I would add would be "Cowboys And Aliens" with Harrison Ford. Absolutely fun.

Agreed. A real sleeper of a movie in the media but what a piece of cinema. Saw it in a theater in Orange Walk, Belize and I think it was even better in Castillan Spanish. A very surprising movie indeed!

I can't name just one greatest movie of all time....I haven't seen all the movies, and they keep making more.
One of my all time favorites is The Shawshank Redemption.

But I like odd movies, and I could watch movies like While You Were Sleeping and Con-Air over and over again.
But Sandra Bullock and Nicolas Cage are my favorite actress and actor.

I have a special movie some prolly have never heard of, from 1980...it stars Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, a Victorian time travel movie called Somewhere In Time.
I paid a fortune for that movie when trying to find it!

I will watch anything with Nicolas Cage in it. Ms. Bullock isn't my favorite though.
