Greatest Movie of All Time?

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSftS2XK_bM"]I'll be back later with my shortlist, but while I'm gone, everything in this clip actually happened if you're interested in an incredibly violent film.[/ame]

Ok so i have to amend my list now:

In no particular order:

1. Gladiator
2. Braveheart
3. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
4. The 5th Element
5. Zulu
6. The Shawshank Redemption
7. The Green Mile
8. Forrest Gump
9. Casablanca
10. Airplane
11. Goodfellas
12. Tora Tora Tora
13. The Unforgiven
14. Predator
15. The Terminator

Magnificent seven
Fist full of dollars

You left off the best one:

The Unforgiven
Outlaw Josey Wales was way better than Unforgiven...Clint got the mercy Oscar for that one.

Also forgot Once upon a Time in the West.

The Unforgiven is the best western of all time (IMO), followed closely by Pale Rider.

I just got done watching Casablanca, it's got to be in the top 3 anyway. I like a few others that you have there too.

Lawrence of Arabia

Especially from the perspective of USMB. No movie or story provides a more perfect metaphor for the interaction between 'the west' and the middle east. All the delusions, all the hubris, all the good intentions and and self-deception... genius.

In my top three also, if not #1. I'll toss in The Maltese Falcon.

And from a personal standpoint - as a profound affirmation of humanity revealed - "Joe vs. the Volcano"

No, I'm not kidding.

Loved South Pacific too. My father loved Mitzi Gaynor. He saw her in some show later in his life and he was in heaven! :)

One of my favs is Prince of Tides. The book was wonderfully written, it gave me goose bumps just to read, it had a life of it's own.
