True story on the race to build rockets that started in WW2.
Background: As the war in Europe winds down American forces are desperately trying to find German rocket equipment and scientists. FDR, Churchill and Stalin have already divided up Europe and Stalin is getting the region where most of the V-2 work was located. American forces currently occupy that region but Soviet forces are moving in quickly to take over and make the Americans withdraw.
With the Soviets just 4 hours away the Colonel in charge of this hunt locates a key German scientist and asks if he wants to move his family to the American sector. He says yes, but he has no way of getting there.
The American Colonel says TAKE THE MAYORS CAR. SOVIETS ARE 4 HOURS AWAY AND HES NOT GOING TO NEED IT ANYMORE.
