LONDON (Reuters) - Researchers said on Sunday they had found a safer way to transform ordinary skin cells into powerful stem cells in a move that could eventually remove the need to use human embryos.

It is the first time that scientists have turned skin cells into induced pluripotent stem cells or iPS cells -- which look and act like embryonic stem cells -- without having to use viruses in the process.

The new method also allows for genes that are inserted to trigger cell reprogramming to be removed afterwards.

GOLLY! Whatta SHOCKER!

Yet ANOTHER tidbit coming out which discredits the left's desperation to use fetal stems cells to advance the secular sacred cow: "Science"

And, by far, the biggest nut job on this site rears his ugly head again. Wow, you truthfully have serious issues

Well ... if idiots like Pubicus hadn't been fighting so hard against all stem cell research just because of the name, perhaps they would have found it a lot sooner ...

so bush doesn't throw money at a problem like you wanted him to and people work harder and figure out another way........

sorry, no one was against ALL stem cell research
just embryonic stem cell research

actually, the facts are that the only stem cell research that was banned from recieving federal funding was embryonic stem cells
that means that things like THIS(the OP) were able to get greater funding because they didnt have to share it

Pub you're demonstrating a worrying tendency to obsession. It's a scientific story and you immediately politicise it. You need counselling

ROFLMNAO... OH GOD! Now THAT's PRECIOUS... A Leftist complaining about "Science" being Politicized... HYSTERICAL.

This is a fair sign that someone is within minutes of declaring the world is ending due to 'GLOBAL WARMING'... or perhaps it will be someone denigrating those who claim divine endowment of human rights are moralist's who are standing between humanity and "SCIENTIFIC PROGRESS!" which lies with developing human embryos so they can be harvested for their stem cells...

HILARIOUS!

Indeed Dive... I have never said a word against stem cell research... N'er once have I condemned the study of stem cells, per se... I have however spoken out against the harvesting of human beings... and this on the immutable principle that there is no right to take the life of one human being without a sound and valid moral justification... the extent of which does not include 'to harvest their stem cells for research...'

A huge plus in using adult stem cells is you don't have to undergo immune suppressant therapy to fight the bodies natural instinct to reject foreign cells.

it is a myth that Bush banned stem cell research, it is also a myth that Bush banned embryonic stem cell research
what he DID ban was FEDERAL funding of embryonic stem cell research
they were able to do any they wished with PRIVATE funding

Yup! One of the few times he didn't just let them shovel the pork in. Meanwhile, all these billionaire actors and millionaire politicians demagogue it, and flat-out lie about it, while not giving a dime of their own money for it.

Sorta like all the millionaires who kept lying about "Bush tax cuts for the rich" while, NOT sending any of THEIR tax cut back!

so bush doesn't throw money at a problem like you wanted him to and people work harder and figure out another way........

The researchers were from the University of Toronto.

ROFLMNAO... SO WHAT?

Chrissy, look, it's clear that you're the message board equivilent of the window licking rider of the short intellectual bus... BUT DAYUM!

Even a complete RETARD, such as yourself, couldn't expect that a reasonably intelligent person, so as the person who posted that to which you're responding, would not recognize that President's Hussein anaugural promise to adhere to "SCIENCE"... was not directed, at least in PART... to the sacred cow: FETAL STEM CELL! You idiots have been clammoring for this black hole of SCIENCE to be 'properly funded' for a GENERATION... now of course YOU, being a retard, saw an article which showed promise of "STEM CELL RESEARCH" and RAN BACK HERE TO POST IT... because YOU do not recognize the DISTINCTION between Fetal Stem Cells and STEM CELL RESEARCH... But you get your information from Radical leftist disinformation websites... so that's perfectly understandable.

Stay down Sis... No one 'wants' to hurt ya here...

Well ... if idiots like Pubicus hadn't been fighting so hard against all stem cell research just because of the name, perhaps they would have found it a lot sooner ...

That is debatable. More likely it was the fact that there is such a strong resistence to the use of embryonic stem cells that led researches to look at alternative methods. Had there not been strong resistence to the use of embryonic stem cells, there would have been no reason to look for alternative solutions.
