Government workers feel no economic pain - Washington Times

This is one of the many reasons we hear so often that the 'stimulous is working.'

It kept gov workers in the money, even though Barry said 90% of the 'jobs created' would be in the private sector.

Its also why we are in such trouble, the gov spends freely money it doesn't have, and makes sure if you are in gov you get paid, and to hell with you if you aern't.

You mean those government workers who still have their jobs, right?

The states are shedding workers like crazy, right now...thus exacerbating the problem, of course.

State workers are not Feds, are they.

Did you even bother to read your own article?

The recession and the ongoing jobless recovery devastated much of the private-sector work force last year, sending unemployment soaring, but government workers emerged essentially unscathed, according to data released Wednesday by the Labor Department.

Meanwhile, the compensation for state and local government employees continued to easily outdistance the wages and benefits for workers in private business, a separate Labor Department report showed.

No, but they ARE "Govt. workers" are they not?

Note the title of this thread?

Govt. workers feel no economic pain

If you meant FEDERAL workers, perhaps then you ought to have made that point more clearly.

Perhaps you need to argue with the Washington times, its their title.

In government payrolls, you no longer have low-wage occupations, such as janitors, whose jobs have been contracted out to the private sector," he said. This trend has effectively increased the average wage of those higher-skilled workers who remain, said Mr. Booth, whose union represents 1.6 million workers.

From your own article

you quote that as fact, when in reality it is just an opinion that is "included" in the article

No, it's your title.

You posted it, ergo your responsibility.

Fact is I suspect that the number of "government" workers (FEDERAL STATE AND LOCAL) is dropping like a stone.

I know damned well it is here in Maine.

Nope, its their title, if i changed it, i would be 'editorializing.'

Kinda ironic, you have the private sector funding his pension via SSI, funding government pensions and ever increasing government salaries and benefits.... all the while the private sector is ever increasingly deamonized; without which, the public sector would have NADA as they produce NOTHING.

That's just CRAZY!!!

Didn't read your own article, huh.....

It IS a fact, that it's from the OP's own article.

Nothing I said contridicts 'the article.'

Face it, Barry is for big gov, and that's all, the rest of us can go hang.

In the last monthly employment report, states laid off 25,000 people. There was a report this morning in the WSJ that St Louis is going to close half its schools. California has been furloughing its employees.

It might be that government employees haven't felt as much pain, but to say no pain isn't correct.

States haven't been living within their means either, they remained bloated through stimulous money, but that money doesn't last forever.

Now many states must actually balance a budget, their first reaction is to fire people.

Pretty sure gov't workers pay into SSI also, along their pensions.
And if there was a private sector job equal to Obama's job, they would get paid ten times more.
