A lot of libs believe that we are living on a shoe string budget if Sequestration is not over turned. For whatever reason, they don't want to openly acknowledge just how much waste our government deals with in an ongoing "politics as usual" mentality.

-- Rep. Tom Coburn (R-OK) is a leading budget hawk who identified programs to fund a space ship to another solar system, funds for advancements in beef jerky from France, and $6 billion for research to find out what lessons about democracy and decision-making can be learned—from fish!

-- Homeland Security’s Janet Napolitano was issuing statements about the sequestration cuts to her department, but according to Tom Schatz, president of Citizens Against Government Waste, the department has $9 billion in unspent preparedness funds. How much of that will be spent on purchasing more DHS ammunition? They have already purchased enough to shoot every American five times.

- For reasons that defy sanity, various elements of the government have spent $3 million for research on video games; $2.6 million to train Chinese prostitutes to drink responsibly; a whopping $500 million on a program that would, among other things, try to figure out why five-year-olds “can’t sit still” in a kindergarten classroom; and grants such as $1.8 million on a “museum of neon signs” in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Losing High-Speed Rail Bidders will get $2 million each
Only one of the five construction firms will be awarded the $1.8 billion high-speed rail contract for the first 30-miles of track. However, a recent report by the U-T San Diego uncovered that the remaining four companies will get paid $2 million each, simply for submitting a bid. The California High-Speed Rail Authority claims payouts like these are supposed to attract more bidders and competitive proposals. The high-speed rail project is slated to cost $68 - $98 billion, with nearly $3.3 to $11.7 billion guaranteed by the federal government.
Government Waste

Just Google "Government Waste" There are a vast number of sites to be enlightened.

Sequestration is necessary if the two parties won't compromise with each other.

We can't even afford government "growth".

We have to cut the amount of $$$ spent by government.

Until the federal civilian job security is based on hard measures of continuously improving performance (like cutting operations costs instead of distributions of services) nothing is going to change.

The excuse that government is different has to go.

Nonsense. Government is service oriented; business is profit oriented. However, efficiency in distribution of service should be the standard.
