Government waste in Medicare

In Mr Obama's speech tonight he mentioned on more than one occasion that there is waste in our current government medicare (health coverage) situation. Enough so, that he can pay for increased coverage for those that have no health care insurance.

So why the fuck hasn't that waste been cut out yet?
Or do you think that by enlarging the program, we will enlarge the waste that already exists?

EXACTLY--we know that there is a lot of government waste. So Obama's "cure" is to EXPAND health care so he can fix the waste----

Obama still has not explained how he can cut 500 BILLION out of medicare with millions of baby boomers now entering the system--& will continue to enter for the next 15 years. There's only one solution & that is rationed health care for the elderly.

Let's face it--our government could not operate a lemonaid stand without bankrupting it.

AGREED--this is government take over of health care--so they can take our money & spend it wherever they want. To control our money. This is exactly why social security is bankrupt. When it's your only option, you take advantage of what you paid for, and still pay for. IT's basically like having a sliding scale insurance. However, no one ever said it didn't work, only that it's wasting money because it keeps getting raided, because of that they keep having to cut it back.

Also, Republicans have not been in charge for a long time.

If you want to help healthcare, get rid of the FDA, cut off the head and the body will die, it's simple. Reduce the costs of doing business in the US and the attracted competition will drive prices down. Also, stop raiding Social Security and Medicare, force the Democrats who have been fucking it up the last decade to put the money back into it, from their own damned pockets. Problems solved. Another government program?

Basically, Obama has to first waste billions more funding a committee to spend months analyzing if the money is truly being wasted, then reallocate the funds that are being wasted to another wasteful program while we and our offspring for generations have to pay for it all.

It really doesn't matter if you're a Republican or Democrat--there has been waste in the Federal Government for decades that no one administration have cured. I remember Ronald Reagan complaining about $600 dollar toilet seats. That's how the federal government is. They have always been that way--they are extremely inefficient. No private sector company could operate like that--they need to make a profit. So private sector businesse's continually watch cost. Our federal government has never--ever done that.

We all agree that something has to be done to lower health care insurance costs. We all agree that people with pre-existing conditions are able to find afforable health care. We all agree that insurance companies should not be able to cap benefits to existing members--or not pay for illness or injury.

Where our differences are--is do we want a very inefficient Federal Government running it--or the private sector--that with a stroke of the pen the government can regulate--that gives us the options & competition to reduce costs & protect consumers.

Obama is the FRAUD.....Here is where much of the "waste and fraud" money is going to come from...

This new bottom line for benefits, much lower than anything I ever had with my “employer-provided” insurance plans, will be this basic Medicare plan offered to all, served up with blarney that now all Americans have access to the same excellent Medicare that the elderly are so “happy” with. If that isn’t good enough for you, anyone who can afford it will be able to purchase additional coverage, at a much higher price than seniors now pay for the government-subsidized supplemental programs (sometimes called Medicare “Advantage”). According to repeated pronouncements by the President and Congress, these government-subsidized, supplemental programs (that seniors have depended upon to expand their Medicare benefits and make basic medical services affordable) will be eliminated. They constitute the “waste” in the system that the President and Congress repeatedly refer to. They also represent “chicken feed,” compared to the enormous profits the private sector is going to accumulate when we all have to purchase private health insurance policies.

This is what Grampy meant, when he protested that he did not want the government messing around with his Medicare. In spite of the chortling and demeaning commentary by noted liberals on NPR talk shows, Democracy Now, The DR show, and others, Grampy does know that the deduction he agreed the government should take directly from his monthly Social Security check is his premium payment for the government-run Medicare plan. He also knows he could never afford decent medical coverage if he did not make an additional monthly premium payment for the private supplemental (“Advantage”) program. Grampy knows that these supplemental programs that give him the “advantage” of being able to afford the basics of medical care, are on the chopping block and that their elimination (as Obama brags repeatedly) will play a major part in the cost-cutting needed to pay for the new health reform program.

Another cost-cutter Obama often cites is reduction in funding to those hospitals that provide services to the uninsured and poorest citizens.
