Senator Harry Reid knows how to manipulate the government in order to lie, steal, bribe, bully, and betray the country to the United Nations, but he is in over his head when he calls Tea Party conservatives anarchists:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxp2kNcwVlc&feature=player_detailpage]Harry Reid: I Won't Bow Down to Tea Party Anarchists - YouTube[/ame]

Reid is not the brightest guy in the world; so I doubt if he knows this:

Totalitarian government is one extreme. Anarchy is the other extreme. Limited government is the permanent center; it never moves.

Conservative senators missed an opportunity to show Reid for the fool he is when he first made his idiotic remarks. Happily, any conservative senator can still point out Democrats are driving toward totalitarian government while conservatives are fighting to bring the country back to center. Everything Democrats said and did since the FDR years brought the country closer to totalitarian government. The Affordable Care Act is the coup de grâce. That is undisputable.

Conservatives fighting for the Constitution is a far cry from anarchy. If Reid actually knew what anarchy is he would not have leveled the charge:

anarchy noun
plural anarchies

1. Absence of any form of political authority.

2. Political disorder and confusion.

3. Absence of any cohesive principle, such as a common standard or purpose.

anarchist noun

An advocate or a participant in anarchism.

anarchism noun

1. The theory or doctrine that all forms of government are oppressive and undesirable and should be abolished.

2. Active resistance and terrorism against the state, as used by some anarchists.

3. Rejection of all forms of coercive control and authority: “He was inclined to anarchism; he hated system and organization and uniformity” (Bertrand Russell).

anarchistic adjective

Harry Reid & Company make an astounding leap to justify their agenda —— coercive control and authority is good because anarchy is bad. They are not pretending ignorance. They are ignorant. Not a one of them recognizes the center conservatives are fighting for.

Reid’s partner in the crime of the century —— ramming the ACA down the public’s throat —— is a sick, sick, woman. Nancy Pelosi simply cannot tell the truth. Watch her lie about everything in order save a law an overwhelming majority Americans want defunded until it can be repealed:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=PaC-bMJ-N4Y]Nancy Pelosi to CNN: House GOP Members are 'Legislative Arsonists' - State of The Union - 9/22/13 - YouTube[/ame]

Let’s take a look at a few of Pelosi’s most ridiculous lies:

PELOSI: Well, none of us of comes here to have more government than we need. So, we should subject everything we do to real scrutiny to say is this needed because most of it is an expenditure. So, is this needed? Is it doing what it set out to do? Can we consolidate? We should again only subject and review what we do here to make the country work for the American people.

Nancy comes out of the box lying. Socialists have been giving the country more government than a free people need since LBJ declared war on poverty. The Great Society gave the country an outhouse full of bloated bureaucracies along with so many unnecessary, overlapping, bureaucracies nobody knows what they do. Monica Crowley should have asked Pelosi to prove her statement by justifying ‘oppression by bureaucracy’ that her political philosophy created.

And before you believe Pelosi works for the American people read who Pelosi was working for when she first went to Congress:

Pelosi whinnies from the pastures

This next quote is a variation of Harry Reid’s anarchy theme song. Neither one knows the difference between small government and no government:

PELOSI: I was making the distinction between those who say how much government do we need for those who say we don't need any government.

I’m not holding my breath until a journalist, or a member of the House, asks Pelosi to identify any Tea Party Republican who said “. . . we don't need any government.”.

The liar who said “We have to pass it to find out what’s in it.” had the gall to add:

PELOSI: The anti-government ideology that is making a mess of what goes on in Congress now.

Nutty Nancy might have been off her meds when she did the interview. Or maybe she is so mentally ill she cannot see that totalitarian ideology made a mess of Congress. Solution: Increase the dosage of whatever medicine she takes to bring her down to Earth.

CROWLEY: They want to defund Obamacare.

PELOSI: No, they want to shut down the government. The effect of putting the Affordable Care Act on the bill is to shut down government. They know that. They know that has no prospect of prevailing.

“Tea Party conservatives want to shutdown the government” is the lie told most often these days. In just a few weeks the government shutdown lie demolished the record Democrats established when they repeatedly lied for more than a year when they said the cost of healthcare would come down. Now the country is learning that costs are going up for everybody except the parasite class, while the increase to everybody in what’s left of the private sector middle class will be astronomical.

I could devote pages and pages to Pelosi’s lies and doublespeak. Instead, I will close her remarks with a lie that is so ludicrous it scares me to hear her say it with a straight face.

Pelosi: This is an excuse to, again, hand it all over to their friends, the insurance companies or, again, not have a public role in this important initiative.

Pelosi & Company implementing the ACA will enrich insurance companies beyond Wall Street’s wildest dreams. If Pelosi wants to stop such a massive transfer of wealth going to absentee owners she should be fighting to defund Hillarycare II alongside Republicans without shutting down the government. That would pull the rug out from under all of those nasty arsonists and anarchists.

Finally, Laura Ingraham covers some of the ground I talked about. She is wrong about one thing only. Republicans will not take the blame for a government shutdown if they do their homework and get the truth out; on television whenever possible, and 24-7 on the Internet.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=FFIOFYLWpBs]Language Of The Left! Extortionists, Arsonists & Anarchists Desperate Democrats Laura Ingraham - YouTube[/ame]

From everything I’ve heard and read shutting down the government is a blame game between public sector employees and working Americans. The numbers only tighten up when you put the entire parasite class in the Democrat column. That’s still nowhere near a majority. So I cannot see how Republicans take the heat when so many Americans want the ACA defunded for starters.

The MSM and Republican party stalwarts are in a pickle. Both want to blame Tea Party Republicans for the government shutdown while making Karl Rove’s Republicans look like they represent the will of the American people. This is the way defunding the ACA will be portrayed in the days ahead:

This strategy — forced upon Boehner, Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) by the conservative rank-and-file — dramatically increased the chances of a government shutdown come Oct. 1.

Also, how come it’s “force” when House Republicans do the right thing, but it was doing something wonderful for the American people when Democrats in both chambers rammed Hillarycare II down the public’s throat:

House Republicans forced through a short-term government funding bill that delays Obamacare and permanently repeals a tax on medical devices, setting up their most dramatic face-off ever with President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats.

By JOHN BRESNAHAN and JAKE SHERMAN | 9/28/13 10:39 AM EDT Updated: 9/29/13 12:41 AM EDT

Government shutdown: House delays Obamacare as shutdown nears - POLITICO.com

And how come House Republicans are “. . . setting up their most dramatic face-off ever with President Barack Obama and Senate Democrats.”

How about the president and Senate Democrats trying to override the House’s constitutional authority until they get everything they want and to hell with what working Americans want. That’s what the MSM and Democrats call compromise.

Incidentally, who gets blamed in the midterm elections is not the only thing worrying everybody in Congress. They all fear that a shutdown will remind working Americans that they get along just fine without oppressive government.

During Clinton’s shutdown Democrats and the MSM complained about delays in getting passports, Smokey the Bear not getting his ass wiped by park rangers, and such nonsense. Oh yeah! That really put the country in danger.

Finally, when Clinton shutdown the government every federal employee laid off during the shutdown ended up getting paid FOR NOT WORKING. That’s what the parasite class is all about.

p.s. The word is: Federal employees laid off this time around WILL NOT get a paid vacation. I’ll wait and see on that one.

A new record for telling government shutdown lies is being set hourly by the media. Shutting down the government will hurt the stock market is one lie designed to scare everybody with a 401 K.

Polls favoring NO government shutdown is probably the biggest lie being told as the deadline approaches. Who the hell knows who is polled! If a pollster asks 1,000 parasites working for the EPA, and 500 Americans who know Hillarycare II is going to kill them financially, you get rigged results that look legitimate.

Sad to say, I smell a rat in good news:

For Republicans, the cliffhanger over a government shutdown is a win-win.

If they manage to extract a concession from Senate Democrats in exchange for voting to approve a continuing resolution to fund the government’s operations, then they’ve won. The House Republicans are asking for a repeal of ObamaCare’s tax on medical devices and a one-year delay of the implementation of the health care law. If they get either one, they’ll have achieved something that they wouldn’t have achieved had they been as pliant as President Obama wanted.

And — here is the underappreciated point — if the Republicans fold and approve the spending bill without extracting any concessions from Democrats, then they’ve also won. Because in that case, Americans will actually get a chance to see for themselves what a train-wreck ObamaCare is. If the law is really as bad as Republicans say it is, then as a political matter, what could be better for Republicans than voters finding out firsthand?

Win-Win Situation for GOP Starts To Come Into Focus in The Fracas Over Obamacare

Win-Win Situation for GOP Starts To Come Into Focus in The Fracas Over Obamacare - The New York Sun

The NY Sun rightly calls it a win-win for Republicans. However, there is a Nubian in the fuel supply. The rat I smell lets John Boehner off the hook if Harry Reid drops the tax on medical devices. Reid looks good because he compromised without caving. The whole thing smells to high heaven. Even if it’s not a scam —— repealing a tax that affects a small percentage of Americans is a poor trade for funding the ACA that hurts every American.

Incidentally, I caught a bit of Gretchen Carlson’s first show on FOX. From what I heard her say about the government shutdown she is another liberal implementing the Fairness Doctrine on FOX. I usually channel surf a bit with my afternoon coffee. I do not expect to catch a wave with Carlson.

Well let me start this off by answering idb's last two posts:
Socialist: a way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies
Tyranny: 1) Cruel and unfair treatment by people with power over others
2) a government in which all power belongs to one person: the rule or authority of a tyrant

As I understand it, the Tea Party and a number of conservatives are concerned that The Affordable Care Act is the first step to a socialist and tyrannical American government. As I SEE it, their position is not without merit. However I do have a couple of ideas I want to throw out there.

Through my research, I have come to the conclusion that a lot of citizens are concerned that the ACA will lead to increased hardship on the less economically prosperous of this nation. That maybe true, but what nobody seems to notice is that while ACA might{/I] cause economic hardship, a shutdown of the government will cause economic problems. Of course those on the hill won't feel it, should this become an extended shutdown, because they are deemed to be exempt. But what about the hundreds of thousand employees that will get what is tantamount to an unpaid vacation? What about all of the car payments, house payments, rent, utilities, and multitudes of other bills that will go unpaid if this shutdown goes on? What about the small towns and businesses that make their living off of selling merchandise at the hundreds of national parks that will be closed tomorrow as a result of the shutdown? I'm no advocate of ACA by any stretch of the imagination, but if the primary concern is that it will create another financial burden on the American people, then why would you go out of your way to do something that will create a problem?

Secondly, what about the 1.4 million active duty military members? I have several friends in the military that are just getting by, pay check to pay check. What happens to their bills and their families when the government shuts down and they don't get paid? These people rose their right hands and swore to defend their country from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Don't the deserve their rewards for their selfless service and sacrifices? Don't they deserve the appreciation for going through hell and back to protect those who can't protect themselves?

I'm not saying that we shouldn't try to fight ACA with aplomb, but why are we going to throw a wrench into an economy and nation that's struggling to restore itself to it's former glory? Someone answer me that question. Is it so important that the ACA never sees the light of day that we're going to destroy our country over it?

Fact: Any Republican House or Senate member who caves on the budget will face a very expensive primary when up for re-election. And, if they survive that spendy primary, will lose in the following general election.

One way or another this has the potential to create a viable third party - or turn this into a one-party Soviet look-alike.

OK, maybe not Soviet.

Maybe Chinese.

But more likely.......

To FlyingWeasel: Your response is well-thought out. My problem is that I sense you are a moderate.

Whenever moderates and independents fall off the fence they always land on the Left side. With that in mind I hope my fence-straddling friends following this thread will take the time to read the linked article before assigning blame for the government shutdown.

Pat Buchanan frames the government shutdown as a conflict between the “beltway” and the American people:

. . . the beltway has assembled its usual bodyguard of lies and liars to conceal that truth.

Of course Buchanan is correct although I would say federal government lies and liars rather than beltway. After all, the federal government is the problem not geography.

I especially enjoyed Pat’s observation in the following excerpt:

Few disagree that, in any national plebiscite, Obamacare would be buried in a landslide. Few disagree that if Obamacare were put to a vote of the Congress today, it would fail in both houses.

Why, then, is it radical for the House to use its power of the purse to defund a program America does not want?

The beltway lies of the Obamacare war
Pat Buchanan: It's the intransigence of 'Harry and Barry' that is leading to shutdown

The beltway lies of the Obamacare war

Recall Pat’s way of illustrating his position on illegal aliens pouring across the border:

images

Pat suggested snipers should be stationed along the border to shoot ‘coyotes.’ Criminals who bring illegals in for a fee are called coyotes. Pat has been portrayed as an extremist ever since because he tied guns to protecting the nation’s border.

Before moderates and independents fall off the fence on the government shutdown they should ask themselves who is the extremist? They might arrive at the right answer after they analyze Republican and Democrat positions on open borders along with enforcing a law that is hated by a majority of Americans.

Secondly, what about the 1.4 million active duty military members? I have several friends in the military that are just getting by, pay check to pay check. What happens to their bills and their families when the government shuts down and they don't get paid?

To FlyingWeasel: The military will be funded. Democrats are not that stupid.

Fact: Any Republican House or Senate member who caves on the budget will face a very expensive primary when up for re-election. And, if they survive that spendy primary, will lose in the following general election.

To HenryBHough: Absolutely. I think Karl Rove’s Republicans already know they can no longer win an election without the conservative vote.

One way or another this has the potential to create a viable third party - or turn this into a one-party Soviet look-alike.

To HenryBHough: A third party (second party) is the end game. I’ve long said that the Tea Party is a splinter party within the Republican party. As such, the best that conservatives can do is stop establishment Republicans and, by extension, stop Democrats in their tracks à la defunding and repealing the ACA.

Karl Rove’s Republicans either bend or break before true conservatives have enough congressional seats to provide muscle for a conservative president. Forming a new party is inevitable if Rove’s Republicans do not bend.

The following cartoon taken from the linked article was made for liberals trying to defend the ACA by blaming Republicans for the government shutdown:

Obama is just as much at fault for the shut down as the Republicans. Remember, he said he would not negotiate. He was getting everything he needed to keep the government running, the ONLY thing he wasn't getting was his funding for healthcare. So he let the govt shut down over his this one thing. Of course if he'd given in he would have then admitted he's a failure. We all know THAT will never happen!

Assuming the following is true anybody who thinks Wall Street & the insurance industry are not behind the ACA needs to have their heads examined.

Will Sheehan claims that when he tried to sign up for Obamacare and then register to opt out, he received an ominous warning. Sheehan’s full Facebook post reads;

“I actually made it through this morning at 8:00 A.M. I have a preexisting condition (Type 1 Diabetes) and my income base was 45K-55K annually I chose tier 2 “Silver Plan” and my monthly premiums came out to $597.00 with $13,988 yearly deductible!!! There is NO POSSIBLE way that I can afford this so I “opt-out” and chose to continue along with no insurance.
