Pay rates for Senior Executive Service (SES), Senior Level (SL) and Scientific & Professional (ST) positions range from $119,554 to $179,700.
NOTE: SL & ST employees receive the appropriate percentage pay adjustment for their area.

No doubt some government sincures are overpaid, and some of them, by comparison to public jobs requiring the same amount of education and work are underpaid.

What happened to the old principle that Public Sector Workers make less since they receive great Benefits that far exceed what most in the private sector receive? How is it that all the latest reports show that the median difference between Public Sector jobs and Private sector jobs is now $11,000.00. That's a large difference for people who work for the public. Is this an accident? I don't think so. Pro Government politicians know it's always hard to reduce the size of government and it's nearly impossible to cut their pay. So the more highly paid bureaucrats there are the better for those who only want to grow the size of Government.

This also helps those same politicians gain support at election time. Who's going to support the person who wants to cut your pay or eliminate your job. If the Large Government Liberals and Socialists can grow the size of government to a point where it along with Union Labor exceeds that of the private sector, it will mark the end of Liberty in the United States of America.

Can you imagine, a country where kids grow up dreaming of getting a Government job instead of running their own business or working up to leading a strong successful company. I'm not talking about Policeman or Fireman but Bureaucrats. Can you imagine, Does Billy want to run his own business? NO, he wants to work in the office of Labor and Statistics. It pays a six figure salary and has life time benefits along with promotions on a regular basis that are only based on length of service and require no exceptional work his behalf.

Pretty sweet deal, don't you think?

I see you don't work in the public sector.

Perhaps he tried to work as there and was denied...therfore we get this thread?

I don't want anything to do with a public sector job. I might run for office one day but I have no interest in being a bureaucrat. I have respect for those who have served in an honorable fashion but how honorable is it now when they make better coin than those in the private sector. Think about it. Now people are going to say, "Well I've spent my time working for a private company, now I'm going to work for the government and make some real money."

How messed up is that?

BTW, if anybody knows of a good government sinecure, one demanding not too much actual work, but demanding a high degree of creative thinking (and thinking outside the box virtually guaranteed to annoy my immediate supervisors, too) please let me know.

Something demanding that I must relocate to Hawaii or Jamaica or some other tropical clime would be nice, too.

I think the real question is why is the private sector ripping its workers off?

Seems like you're a perfect candidate for janitor position, send your resume, no criminal record please..

What the FUCK are you talking about?!?!

Private Insurance Executive: $296,979.00 + BIG bonu$es to find clever ways to prevent claims from being paid.

Same duties in management at Social Security and Medicare: $127,604.00 + Federal Holiday Schedule and a job you can leave in the office at the end of the day.

Assuming you are there long enough to make GS-15 / step 10! Most are probably in the high 5 figures.

But wait, there's more!

Back in 1984 a legend for good or bad in American Politics, Ronald Reagan, pushed through a bill that ended Civil Service and its percs to all Federal employees hired after that year. People going to work for the rest of us now are enrolled in Social Security and they buy their own health insurance, paying comparable rates to employees of large businesses.

Yes, that applies to congress too, so once the dead-wood like McSame, hired before 1984 are gone, leadership in congress will have a vested, personal interest in fixing at least that program.

Just one more reason, as if we didn't have enough, to vote ALL the current leadership out on their asses.

Yep--the 1st time that the federal government is expanding faster than the private sector. The Federal government is expanding in leaps & bounds while the private sector is still shredding jobs.

Not only great pay, great benefits--but HELL you can never get laid off of your federal government job (without a congressional order).--:lol:

We certainly don't have them running it down... in the executive or legislative branches....

The better the people we can attract to Government, the better it will run

then dont bitch if they expect to get paid quality wages and benefits....

You get what you pay for Harry. I'd rather pay top wages for someone at the top of their class than cut rate wages for someone who never graduated

well there are just a lot of people who think Govt workers get paid way more than what they should.....i will be the first to admit that many managers are not needed and should be gone.....but i can only talk about the PO....the people who actually "WORK" get what they deserve....
