Government control of insurance rates...

Wait, you say that Obama promised to lower insurance rates then you link to the article that says so? Am I dreaming or pubs work for Dems now?

No...if you actually READ the article, it states very clearly that he is trying to keep private insurance companies from raising their rates...when all along, his pitch for healthcare has been that the proposed reform would LOWER rates. So, why would legislation be necessary to keep rates from going up?

Pubs aren't working for Dems....the truth is working AGAINST them.

Because we know gov't imposed price controls really work well. Not.

Seriously, does this president understand anything about markets and economics? Does he think people just set prices any ole way they feel like? And does he really believe that artificially setting prices is going to solve anything other than his re-election problem?

I'd call this bill DOA.

Perhaps this proposal is part of his healthcare reform? I'm not seeing where the contradiction is.

Control of a thing IS de facto ownership of it. And Socialist Dems wanted us to believe that they weren't trying to seize control of the private insurance industry.

Tyrants aren't interested in SOLVING problems. They're only interested in power. They don't ask themselves how prices get out of control to begin with or address the causation once identified. They are secret dictators, commanding by fiat, grabbing whatever suits their fancy and claiming benevolence as mitigation.

of course you don't. I'm not even a little bit surprised. I wish you could see past your nose...but that would require you to focus on things beyond you. and we all know that anything beyond you doesn't matter to you.

Not following you. Why have the law to keep rates from going up? Because eventually that's going to happen.

Perzactly.

They want to mandate coverage, then control what rates that insurers can charge for that coverage.....Bu they don't want to put insurance companies out of business.

Uh-huh....Suuuuuuuuurrrrrre.

Insurance companies shall be put out of healthcare business, too bad Dems have no guts to do it.

umm Proposed. The TRUTH is we have no enacted health care reform yet. We do however have rapidly rising insurance rates.

And in a recession if the market rules are followed health care should drop in cost not rise. The old supply and demand thing?

Healthcare will ALWAYS be in demand, thus easy to profit of.

If the market rules were followed, we wouldn't have coverage mandates foisted upon insurers....But we do.

Talk to the states and group policy negotiators about that, Not a fed issue.

Like the RNC having abortion coverage in their group policy? That was mandated by whom?

Less people to insure the more that are laid off. The farther things go down the less people who can keep coverage and fewer to spread the expenses too. You would not want those poor insurance exec's to have to take a pay cut would you?
