There are 13 states with no collective bargaining rights for public workers; 8 of them have larger budget shortfalls than does Wisconsin. In Texas, for example, a non-collective bargaining state whose low-tax, "open for business" economic policies are vaunted by the right, the state's deficit as a percentage of the total budget is over twice that of Wisconsin's.

You heard it here first: Tax the rich and solve budget shortfall - JSOnline
If depriving public sector workers of their collective bargaining rights is the solution, why do 8 of the 13 states that have adopted this approach face "larger budget shortfalls" than Wisconsin?

I already got this information from some email lists and organizer friends. Unions from all over the country are organizing phone drives.

I'm gonna bet that you're gonna hear "This mailbox is full" every time you try to call.

if you don't live in Wisconsin, it really is none of your beeswax imo.

the guy walker ain't running for a National gvt job, like president, is he? Why does he need to get pats on the back from you? You want him to do what you like and the HELL WITH the actual citizens affected in his state that he is suppose to represent?

so what's the purpose of getting all of these emails from your " r.w. bosses", telling you to email the guy Walker and praise him? Is this like busing people to Florida from other states to protest the recount in Miami?

sheesh....

It's really none of your business to tell people what they should or shouldn't do.

Didn't Unions across the country come out to support the Union in WI? Why, yes, I believe they did. Well, if they can - so can we. I've emailed the Gov. to tell him I support him. And... I'm about to forward it out to friends and family.

that's exactly what it is. they know that 60% of people in wisconsin are opposed to union busting. they know that a campaign has started to remind the state legislators of that. they know that walker's approval rating is in the dumpster.

they just can't stand it.... because as usual, the big mouthed, ugly deadenders on the radical right hate not getting their way.... you see how they've acted for the last two years. *shrug*

they're nothing more than noise.

The people of WI voted him into office, on a stance of a fiscal clampdown. They did do that, right? Elected him? On the policy that he is now implementing?

The right have acted differently to the big mouthed, ugly droolers from the left did for the previous eight? How, exactly?

Balance, mo chara, balance. Don't bitch about the right for doing what the left spent the previous 2 admins doing. It looks hypocritical.

1. he lied. he never said he was going to bust the teachers' union while rewarding the unions that donated to HIS campaign. Had he done so, he'd have lost.

2. this has nothing to do with the budget. the unions have already agreed to give-backs. this is about union busting.

i could go on and on about the differences in how MAINSTREAM democrats acted for the prior eight years, but that would allow you to deflect from the actual point of THIS thread.

I personally don't see a need for public sector unions. We the People are their employer. We do not need to have a gun held to our heads to offer a reasonable package to public employees.

And... the WH are helping the Unions, the Dept of Labor are helping the Unions... why shouldn't some Americans send a message of support to the Gov? What's to be afraid of? Why is it a big deal?

They know all this. I can see how state budgets are getting to crisis stage and they do need to get things under control.

This guy is putrid though. A tool who is trying to bust unions and keep Rs in control in Wisconsin. Everyone knows what they're doing and he doesn't mind, he was a hack on MTP last Sunday. He didn't answer even one question honestly. It was one shitty talking point after another.

He is indeed lying. He did not campaign on busting unions.

He's as corrupt as Tom Delay was with his redistricting schemes.

PolitiFact Wisconsin | Walk-O-Meter: Tracking the promises of Scott Walker

That was a good chunk of them. More of the same in the next 3 pages... NOT A WORD ABOUT UNION BUSTING.

What I particularly find interesting is the obvious effort to stick it to the people who didn't give to his campaign (lawyers and teachers), while cutting taxes for the people who did contribute to him.... because we all know that working class teachers are the "elite" who should carry the burden for all his tax cuts.

only a freak of nature could support this guy.

what did he lie about my loony toon friend? not closing gitmo? not getting out of iraq and afghanistan? not ending bush's irresponsible tax cuts for the rich?

interestingly not one of those "promises" is something you nutbars would take issue with.

so cry *me* a river (and kindly note the exclusion of the trashmouth stuff... )

the other stuff he promised, he did... and he STILL has a 50% approval rating, nutbar.

Tell the Governor:

"The public employees' unions are aware that the top one percent of Americans have more financial assets than the bottom 95 percent ...

"The wealthy have, to a large extent, amassed that wealth through indirect contributions to them by governments - governments build roads corporations use, fund schools that train their workers, subsidize their energy costs, do research they capitalize on, subsidize their access to resources, promote trade for them, and on and on...

"The real targets of the public employees' unions are the wealthy free riders who, in a fair political economy, would be giving back more to the nation, and to the states and communities they function in."

Tax the Koch brothers.
