Gov. Gary Johnson: I Smoked Marijuana from 2005 to 2008

Unjust laws should be repealed.

Absolutely. But until such time as that happens they should be violated whenever a person deems it necessary or in their interest.

Who gets to decide which laws are ok to break?

Because there's a person I wouldn't mind being dead so it's ok for me to kill that person right? Because I disagree with the law. Cool.

Seriously, this is why Libertarians can't run a country - you're all fucking stupid.

That you want a person to die tells the rest of us all we need to know about you and your character.

Probably one of the best candidates the right could roll out, and he'd lose out because the more staunch conservatives can't get over their authoritarian position on weed.

I'll support decriminalization - on the day that the I get a guarantee that I'm never gonna be paying one dime because of some asshole who can't live in the real world.

Research around the world suggests that MJ is not as harmless as those who spend their lives stoned would want us to believe. If you can't hold down a job because you're stoned, I have to pay for you. If MJ triggers mental illness (which it does), I have to pay. Why the fuck do I have to pay for other people's addictions? You want to be addicted, have at it. Just stop fucking expecting the rest of us to help you... self inflicted problems aren't my business. Got it?

Yeah, this is the same reason why I would like to go into grocery stores and pull all unhealthy food off the shelves.

I'm getting tired of paying for people's heart disease, cancer, etc, because they choose to maintain poor diets.

Funny, I know people who smoke weed, one in particular has two degrees, steady work, has lived in Canada, the UK, and now the US...and his life is pretty stable.

I'm lobbying for McDonalds and the like to be completely closed down. I'm sick of footing the bill for these fat unhealthy bastards.

It's time we make living healthy THE LAW.

Who said Marijuana is "Harmless"? Now I know plenty of people who will tell you that it is less harmful than Cigarettes or Alchohol. If you can't hold down a job, well then good luck affording to get stoned. Please site some type of reference as to how Marijuana triggers mental illness that relies on research and not non-scientific speculation. I think you pay more to continue with the prohibition of Marijuana than you would pay if it were decriminalized or even legalized and taxed.

The way weed is criminalized right now, you're already paying for those "assholes who can't live in the real world", in the form of added administrative costs of the courts, maintenance of the world's largest prison population per capita, and $80b in Federal taxes going to the DEA's War on Some Drugs.

I commend him for being honest. I have no idea what his policies are. However, I am concerned when a politician is breaking the law. how do we expect him to uphold laws if he doesnt keep them in his own life?
I agree, although we did put up with 8 years of clinton.

I think it's inappropriate to compare the laws prohibiting Cannabis and Hemp use to laws against murder. What's next? Comparing marijuana smokers who break the law to Rapist who brutalize women?

Be that as it may, I decide which laws are ok fom me to break. Like this morning on my commute to work. I (and most of my fellow commuters) broke the law for about 20 miles......

Yawn. Thanks for reminding us that Drug War proponents are still living in 1938.
Marijuana is illegal, period, and it should stay that way. I think alchohol should be controlled more. If you think mj is harmless you are kidding yourself. I am a conservative and I would not vote for him just because of this admission.

So by "controlled more" you naturally mean to say that alcohol and cigarrettes should be made illegal? That would be the only consistent position.

You are an example why this country has problems today. Your avatar says it all, a nut job socialist loving idiot.

Well thank God (in her mighty wisedom), for people like Kennedy. Without them Blacks would still be slaves, women wouldn't be voting, and children would still be working and being mamed or worse in factories.

Sure. Ciggarettes no. Alchohol does the same thing pot does, incapacitates you. Cigs does not incapacitate you sou it should not be regulated, but of course all the dope smoking do gooders want to make them illegal.

Marijuana is harmless compared to a multitude of other psychoactive substances that are both legal and in wide circulation. There is no such thing as physical addiction to marijuana; it's also not possible for marijuana users to overdose on THC. I and many others use prescription medicines that are both more harmful and have enormous abuse potentials. Taking into account the kinds of substances that are already legal and easy to obtain through legitimate channels as well as the relative harmlessness of the plant itself, there is no logical reason to oppose marijuana legalization.

Have you ever used it yourself?

God is a man, read the Bible. I support womens right to vote, equallity for all. Has nothing to do with the fact that pot is illegal.
