Got Me a Speeding Ticket The Other Day...

I do believe the Belronics RX65 mentioned above is the prior model to mine. My Vector 965 is the new model.
Yeah I've extensively read up on detectors; the escort vs. valentine debate is sort of like microsoft vs. apple. Valentines are expensive though, so that'll probably end up knocking them out of the running.

Gender bias isn't the point P. It's how it was written. The wording is very prejudiced, condescending, degrogatory and inflamitory towards yound men, no matter what the facts portray. It could have been worded quite differently without the sarcasism.

Sooooo you wanna be a macho man?
Facts are facts....

Yer provin what this person wrote to be true...
Buying a radar detector. You said this was your first ticket in four years.
How much was that radar detector vs ticket costs? Humm , sounds Macho to me Pale. I'll speed damit let em try an catch me. Sorry.. :)

I've never heard of a Valentine. I'll have to research them. But, Escort is a good one. I think it pay's to buy a good one. Spend the extra. You'll be happy you did.

My Bell has voice, scrolling text, display brightness, volume, I can eliminate X band for city, or dial the sensitivity down, shut the display off so a cop doesn't see that bright red display, and a bunch of other functions. Pretty cool. Came with a real nice carrying case too.

I'm not disputing the facts P, and you're ignoring my very obvious point... as usual.

Buying a radar detector was a financial decision. If it can save me from getting another ticket, which would cause my insurance to go up, then it's more than paid for itself.

Maybe you should ask yourself why it is you go to the extent that you do to find fault in me, and lay accusations on me that are nothing more than your pias opinion. I could begin to pick you apart too. You're far from perfect. This is two way street. So don't appologize, just be fair.

I have nothing to apologize for..so I wouldn’t think of it.
I was not finding fault with you, just pointing to the facts of your "first" post. ;)

In my car-friends-world, Valentine1 is 'The Standard' by which all other detectors are measured.

I'd never heard of a Valentine, but finaly seeing it I'd have to say yeah, it's an awesome machine.

Statement of fact, maybe?…Why buy a radar detector if you don’t plan on speeding?

Everybody speeds P. Don't try and make out like they don't.

I bought a detector so I wouldn't get caught. No other reason. Satisfied? Or do you want to insinuate I have some other sinister or mal aligned reason?

Nope, that was the point. You wanna break the law but not pay the price for doing so....It so proves your first post correct. Sorry again.. ;)

They also provide early warning of the location of our fine police officers which help in their safety.

Example. I am driving down the freeway observing the speed limit. I am behind a trucker who is somewhat blocking the activity ahead of us. A police officer has pulled someone over and they are both parked in the right emergency lane. I can't see them ahead because of the truck I am behind but since his radar is "on," I know he is up there. I can then move to the inside lane purely as a safety measure.

That's my story.

I'm sticking to it.

It's also handy if we get attacked by radar-wielding aliens. I'll take all the headstart I can get. Mr. P can be the appetizer.
