I noticed this two days ago. When I click the "post" button on this forum to post a reply, sometimes another page pops up that says my flash player is out of date and needs to be upgraded. So I clicked it and now I got the virus. It takes me to a page that says my windows 10 license is corrupted and to click this link, which I did not click, and it also gives a phone number to call for immediate assistance. So I said what the hell and called it. Some heavily accented Pakistani or something kind of guy answers and wants addresses and links and id's and stuff so I told him a bad word and hung up. Then sometimes the virus takes me to what looks like a porn site where I have a message from debbie or some other name that i don't click on it, but the page will not close so I have to use task mgr to kill it. So far it comes up several times a day. So it looked like my system Mechanic that I bought is not working. I didn't like it anyway since it wont install correctly and their tech help cannot be understood by me.

So I go to WalMart and look at the virus stuff they have and bought Kaspersky anti virus for 29 dollars. I downloaded it and I still have the virus after running the new software. So I went to their website and made a report about it and they reply with a solution that unfortunately does not help. I have adjusted the software to the highest level of detection and still it can't find this crap. So I thought i would search the internet for some free thing or trial and see if it would help. I found and downloaded and installed a trial version of Malwarebytes and it found twenty infections with hijacking crap that is causing my problem.

This trial software got it all and is intercepting the hijacking attempts regularly, up until a few hours ago, when it's back. So know I am running another Kaspersky super deep deep deep scan to see what ti finds and then if it fails, I think i will delete it and buy the Malwaresbytes super dooper virus killer and hope like hell it works.

I'm sort of disappointed with the product support these days. My phone (Sprint) won't work right and no one can fix it and then most of the time you can't even talk to anyone, just machines or people who don't have a mastery of English.

Well that's all for now. I'll reply if i ever get rid of it.

alas i did a system restore and have spy hunter.....ever now and then it still posts up..facebook is the worst for me...
just shut down should do it too

Uh oh, you got the browser-hijacker thing.

I got that within 20 minutes on a fresh Windows install 1 time.

Here's what you do:

Buy an 8GB flash drive.

Download this: Linux Mint 18.1 "Serena" - Xfce (64-bit) - Linux Mint

and this:

XBOOT - Multiboot ISO USB Creator (Windows) | USB Pen Drive Linux

Make a bootable ISO out of the flash drive.

Back up anything you don't want to lose from your broswer.

(passwords, bookmarks, etc)

Copy all pictures and text files and everything you want to keep to a separate drive.

Wipe your hard drive and install Linux.

Be sure to write down your root password.

You could try saving anything important on a flash drive and doing a factory restore.

An anti-virus and anti-spyware can do way more to prevent malware from being installed than they can to root it out if it's already been installed

If I recall kasperky is simply for viruses. Malware is different. Thus why malwarebytes took care of it. I have always combined it with a virus protector.

The entire internet is malware. Just pop the rubber on and hope for the best

Funny, or maybe not. I uninstalled Kapersky and all traces of this virus/whatever it is, has gone.

Malwarebytes put up the most courageous fight I've ever seen against the "Sasser" virus that crippled Norton almost instantly some years back. I mean it would wipe the slate, encounter multiple more attacks....like every second and beat the shit out of them. Finally it succumbed and even made a little noise when it went down. Amazing. And it was the FREE version to boot. I wouldn't go online without Malwarebytes updated and ready to rumble.

Never never never click on any upgrade message on the Internet.

Microsoft will update automatically so there is no need ever to click on these messages.

Also be careful about just deleting PUPs. Potentially Unwanted Programs. I have a few programs and some of their files are listed as PUPs but they are harmless. You can have MalwareBytes (I use this program as well) remove them and see if it affects any of your other programs. Also read the list of PUPs MBytes brings up and see if anything looks familiar.

I've only gotten a computer virus once about ten years ago and I have standard practice in such cases. I save what I don't want to lose on a USB stick or external HD and then do a hard drive reformat and clean install of Windows. That gets rid of everything and you start factory fresh. You have to reinstall your programs but you know for sure the thing is squeaky clean.

I actually have four programs used to check for viruses and malware. Like sending out an APB on your computer. Let the cops roam free. One other thing, as noted earlier do not update anything from a popup. Always go to the website of the program and do it there. As with Adobe Flash or anything else.

Any time you have an ad say you are infected, close that page immediately. You don't have one. And it is not from Microsoft. They are trying to steal your information.
