Let's see, yesterday someone made the statement here that America is not a racist country (it is a country with undeniably white supremacist origins), there are several individuals here that insists that racism no longer exists in U.S., one of whom believes this presumably because he claims there are no longer any laws which explicitedly allow it (again with the white supremacist origins) and.... oh well, there really is no point in going on when all people do is lie and deny the existence of not just the racist & bigoted element within their ranks, but even the evidence that is right there staring them in the face in black & white (no pun intended)

Angry arguments broke out in the West Virginia statehouse on Friday after the state Republican Party allegedly set up an anti-Muslim display in the rotunda linking the 9/11 terror attacks to a freshman congresswoman from Minnesota.

One staff member was physically injured during the morning's confrontations, and another official resigned after being accused of making anti-Muslim comments.

The display featured a picture of the World Trade Center in New York City as a fireball exploded from the one of the Twin Towers, set above a picture of Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar, who's a Muslim.

"'Never forget' - you said. . ." read a caption on the first picture. "I am the proof - you have forgotten," read the caption under the picture of Omar, who is wearing a hijab.

The display was set up as part of "WV GOP Day," which the party advertised on Facebook as a, day when "Republicans Take the Rotunda."

Several Democrats objected to the display, and reportedly got into an argument with the House's sergeant at arms, Anne Lieberman, after she allegedly made an anti-Muslim remark.

Del. Mike Angelucci, D-Marion, charged Lieberman had said "all Muslims are terrorists."

I would say that America is not a country rife with racism. That does not mean racism does not exist--it certainly does. And I would never trust any state House especially not to do really, really stupid things, as we see in this example. These people can be real yahoos. I think this woman Ilhan Omar is as shady as they come, but that does not mean all Muslims are terrorists, for pity's sake.

Broad strokes of any nature will make for stupid stories. All around.

When you watch the news this evening see if/how often the word alleged or allegedly is used. It is used most often when referring to those who are "alleged" to have committed a crime.

They use this terminology because truthfully unless they witnessed the "alleged" act personally, that's all it is at that point in time, an allegation.

Now think about how many people you've seen just on this site discuss people and/or situations of which they have no first hand knowledge as if the things they are repeating are fact.

There are a over a billion Muslims worldwide. If every single one was a terrorist, why haven't the rest of the religions been wiped out?
