GOP: "We need to care less about the poor"

The message echoing far and wide from the GOP is that caring for the poor, from a policy perspective, is the number one cause for our current economic woes and therefore our first priority should be for government to care less and do less for the poor.

Sounds pretty foolish when you see it distilled to the tangible points like that doesn't it?

You know full well what our Number One problem is. SPENDING TOO MUCH. How many times do we have to be warned by Credit Agencies that we have to get this spending under control? We may be facing another drop in our credit rating within the next month.

We can't be all things to all people. We are a republic but not a fiscally sound one. Stop the hogwash and face the facts.
