GOP wants to end middle class tax break.

Business pays 6.2% and the worker pays 6.2%. Under Obama's payroll tax plan, workers only paid 4.2%.

But the rate is capped at around 105,000, meaning only 6.2% on 105,000. That means the rich pay almost nothing relative to their income. But for the middle class, how many make over 105,000? No one? Few? Very few?

It's another attack on the Middle Class by the Republican leadership. And what the fuck is wrong with their base. Either they are masochists or stupid. Because you can bet all these USMB Republicans are NOT rich. Believe it.

No one even seems to be talking about what the payroll tax actually does.

Republicans, it IS a tax increase on the Middle Class. A group of people many right wingers say "doesn't exist". I guess that's the way they pander to the rich. Pretending the middle class doesn't exist and the poor aren't really poor.

I get to pay the ENTIRE 12.4% RDean.. Got some relief for me??

I'll talk about what the payroll tax is for.. FDR sold Soc Sec as a UNIVERSAL program for ALL workers that would funded by never ever more than 4% of payroll amount. That means that CURRENT workers pay retirement benefits to retirees.. UNIVERSAL -- means it benefits everybody.. NOT just the poorer workers..

YOU are the one that wants to blow up the original UNIVERSAL intent of these programs by turning them into redistribution. And Pelosi/Reid/Obama should have kept their paws OUT of the payroll tax till.. They are STEALING from the Soc Sec fund and causing it to go negative YEARS before the projected date of insolvency. They can no longer steal the SURPLUS -- so now they are mucking with the premiums used to keep those programs on life support at the worst possible time.

If you renege on the UNIVERSAL concept by insisting on skimming the premiums needed to sustain those funds and raising the cap so that only a FEW actually recieve a lifetime benefit from Soc Sec -- the American public will simply tell you to go to HELL the next time you want ANOTHER UNIVERSAL program like healthcare...

GOP may OK tax increase that Obama hopes to block - Yahoo! News

They are now becoming brazen. They are not even trying to hide their efforts to screw the middle class and pad the pockets of the rich. The come up with lame excuses. Then the FOX sheep buy everything, hook, line, and sinker.

How can these people keep screwing over middle America, and getting away with it!

But Republican lawmakers haven't always worried about tax cuts increasing the deficit. They led the fight to extend the life of a much bigger tax break: the major 2001 income tax reduction enacted under Bush. It was scheduled to expire at the start of this year. Obama campaigned on a pledge to end the tax break only for the richest Americans, but solid GOP opposition forced him to back down.

So, this will increase the deficit, but the huge tax break given to the wealthy didn't? What a bunch of HYPCRITES!

It just gets better and better. :clap2:

I LOVE this.

How quickly you guys forget.
If you remember...however I suspect you don't...that the campaign speeches continuously redefined "wealthy". It started out as "millionaires" then it went to "those making up to a million dollars, then it went to $500,000 or above, then it changed to $400,000 and above.
Which includes 100,000's of small business owners that are NOT wealthy and are extremely important to the economy.
So simply saying "yeah the republicans fought against tax breaks for the richest people in America" is a misnomer and you know it.
75.2% of the Bush tax cuts went to people making less than $1,000,000...66.2% went to people making less than $500,000...which ARE the middle class.
Killing the Bush tax cuts would raise taxes on 2/3's of the middle-class.

So neither the threadstarter or RDean wants to discuss the damage to the INTENT of Soc Sec that these pilfering "tax breaks" are causing???

Typical drive-by/hit and run??? You got MORE UNIVERSAL crap you want to try and sell to the American people?

And, it would raise very little revenue. The class warfare rhetoric is designed to distract slow liberals from the obvious need to cut their precious unsustainable anti-American welfare programs.

The entire liberal wish list of Tax Increases:

1 ) Corporate Jets subsidies were extended by Obama administration but now he wants to get rid of them saving= $3.1 billion

2) Oil and gas subsidies saving=$40 billion

3) Hedge fund cap. gain tax eliminated saving = $20 billion

4) Wealthy above 250k pay their fair share saving=$800 billion

5) Deductions like mortgage deduction eliminated on those making over $250. Savings=$300 billion

Total saving= 1.2 trillion total 10 years
But debt is projected to be $21 trillion in 10 years even after current deal.

In sum, the ill conceived, ideologically stupid, liberal welfare, entitlement state is about to come to a crashing end but liberals can't face reality. Thankfully Pubs are there to help them and to save the country.
