GOP Ties Payroll Cuts and Unemployment Benefits to Canada Pipeline - GOOD JOB GOP!!!!

You do realize that if we actually create jobs, we won't need as much unemployment money.

Believe it or not, some people would rather be working than sitting on their asses collecting gumint checks.

its a 2 for 1. The taxpayer no longer has the burden of the unemployment expense and the government gets tax revenue from the income of the worker and from the employer.

Also...guys....don't fall for biker's red herring. I mean seriously how does building the pipeline make it so we are going to use more oil than we use now? Its not it just changes who we buy it from....our enemies in the middle east or our Canadian allies to the north.

B.S., employees pay nothing towards unemployment. It s the employer and the government.

Let me say it again with numbers and more detail

1) The individual who was on unemployment and now has a job is no longer collecting unemployment. This reduces the cost burden on the govt.

2) This same individual is now working and paying taxes such as income (state/fed), Medicare, social security.

3) The individuals employer is now employing and paying payroll taxes

No bullshit here man just the facts :)

House GOP Claims Support For Payroll Tax Cut Compromise | Fox News

First, I want to say it's a god damn shame that the GOP has to FORCE the Democrats to create this pipeline that will create tens of thousand high paying direct American jobs and thousand other support jobs! Not to mention it will increase oil production and lower oil prices. Dimocrats "claim" they want to create jobs, this is an SIMPLE way to create tens of thousands of high paying jobs. Liberalism is a mental disease. AND THIS TRUE STIMULUS PROGRAM AND JOB CREATING PROJECT WON'T COST THE TAX PAYOR $1 , it is completely funded by private sector money!

Second, the GOP is compromising by extending the payroll holiday (which I am grateful for) without being able to pay for it (which is a bad move in long-term) and extending unemployment benefits even longer (another LT bad move), yet the Dimocrats still claim the GOP is not compromising, since the GOP ties it an ENORMOUS job creating machine.

If the Dimocrats in the Senate reject this, they are truly socialist that prefer to doom the economy and if Obama vetos this, then I don't want to hear ANYONE get angry when we JUSTIFIABLY call him a Marxist!

IMO, their opposition to the pipeline is irrational.

Those behind the project are probably seeking the wrong contractor....... Of course that will piss off our prez...

I bet if his guys were building the fucking thing it would be no problem...

When were employers not taxpayers?

I quoted the wrong person.. sorry about dat.

What the hell do you think our tax dollars are used for? Unemployment is one of the things. And maybe I would get a nice raise if my company didn't have to pay in. So yes, employees DO pay.

Oh...I see....for THIS debate, business owners are fair and equitable and if they did not have to pay into the unemployment system, they would share the gains with their employees.

I love it.....you cant make this shit up.

Just give his good bud & "Jobs Czar" GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt a cut of the profits and Obama will have this thing built immediately. His cronies will have to be given a piece of the pie.

Yeah, ok.. if your company cut all it's expenses to $0 then think of all the money you could make!

They can, and they do. According to their logic, you worth as an employee is tied to a business' costs.

I can't speak for ALL employers but maybe some would because they value what their employees do. Wouldn't you agree?

Interestingly enough, in Nebraska (a very red state) they are taking a long hard look at this because it crosses over a major aquifer in the state.

Now...........if they play fast and loose with building this damn thing (like they did with Deepwater Horizon), and a spill happens, what are you going to drink?

I believe most business owners do.....

But I am not arguing that unemployment costs are just the burden of the empoloyer.

Truth is, the cost of en employee is evaluated before an offer is made...and included in that are all payrol taxes...so yes, the net gross paid to the employee is based on how much payroll will cost.

for example....

An position warrants a cost (salaryu plus cost of payroll) of 50K
The cost of payroll is $7500
Therefore the offered salary is $42,500

Without the cost of payroll...that salary offered would be 50K

Yeah.......but lets not forget the studies that state it will create a huge carbon footprint.

Oh wait........forgot..........you guys believe climate change is a myth.

If that's true, why is there no snow in Sweden this year? Wanna talk about the hottest summer in the US in many years?

There are sometimes warm winters and cold summers. World climate is unpredictable. There was an ice age and a periods of warm climate. There was even a mid-ice age in what the 1800s. World Climate has changed throughout its history. Well before and well after man.

Last winter we had enormous about of snow in Chicago. Worst in years. In fact it snowed in ALL 50 states last year. But this year we haven't gotten any snow yet. The global warming alarmist were quiet last year (in fact they said it was called climate change), but now they are back on Global Warming bandwagon! Climate changes from year to year. That is why they call it CLIMATE!

Obamy's gonna need this pipeline after he starts a War with Iran. He better reconsider his opposition to it.

Anyway.....getting back to the subject at hand.

Would it surprise you that there are REPUBLICANS that oppose this pipeline?

From post #18 (which nobody even tried to respond to).........

In addition, because the route took the pipeline over a major aquifer in Nebraska, it elicited opposition from even Republicans in that state.

Keystone pipeline: How many jobs it would really create - Dec. 13, 2011

the benefits outweigh the risks. I would imagine that any state the pipeline crosses over would have some elected official disapproving for one reason or another.

The Deepwater Horizon was problem-free for 10 years. And are you really comparing a drilling rig to a pipeline? Really?

Yep, let Obama Veto it, if he dares.

The Pipe line has had 3 solid years of study, more than any previous Pipe Line in our history. 2 Massive, Expensive Reports have both concluded it is safe to go ahead with. The so called sensitive areas it passes through are already Crossed by more than one other Pipe line. Obama's Excuse for Delaying it is pure Horse shit. he is simply trying to give a win to the Environmentalists in his Base.

Let him Veto the Tax Cuts based on the Pipe line, at his own Peril, Americans will see right through him.

Who is the Unreasonable Obstructionist now? Threatening a Veto over a Pipe line that has had more than enough Study, Been Given the Green light by those studies, and will add thousands of Jobs, and access to Oil from a Friendly ally is exactly the Behavior Obama accuses Republicans of engaging in. Putting our Entire Economic Future, and the Middle Class Tax cuts, in Doubt over an Unreasonable, Ideological Stance on the Pipe Line.

This pipeline would be a pretty huge 'Shovel-Ready Project' no? The President should be strongly in favor of this. This should be an easy deal to make for him and the Democrats. It's a Win/Win for everyone.

Except his eco-nazi base is opposed. And he needs his base for this election.
So once again, Obama's presidency is compromised by politics. When is he going to quit campaigning and start governing.
