GOP reluctantly lets woman chair committee

The chairmanship of any committee should go to whoever is the most qualified for it, male or female. If Miller has been appointed simply because of criticism who does Boner think he is fooling?

It was pointed out a day or two ago that all GOP chairmanships would go to- you guessed it- middle aged white guys. After that was reported, Boehner scrambled to find a token female.

Can't stop those Republicans from moving right along, now a token woman-chairperson. There was some talk that in another fifty years, a really light complected person, really light complected, might, well you know.
What is funny is that all those pictures shown on TV of the all white-middle aged-male Republican committee chairmen seemed to have some sort of impact. Maybe that the key to Republican movement, pictures on TV?

Ah, so you're admitting appointing/hiring people because of political considerations (i.e. gender or skin color) is tokenism.

Way to finally come out of the closet.

why did Boehner (R) cave :dunno: Could it be that > 1/2 of all voters are female :eusa_think:

Its been like that since the election.

The president says or does something and, in record time, Boehner is off the golf course and in a tie for a photo op rebuttal.

He can't control his own party, hasn't been able to since he got the gavel. That won't change and he'll just keep on scrambling to keep up.

Its enough to make him cry.

he's been scared of a t-party revolt & him losing his gavel. Seems the last election was a wake-up-call for him of sorts though

Is there any American that has any policial wherewithall that believes Congress is a place where politics is not a consideration in its decisions? Politics probably enters into every decision the Congress makes, from washroom attendant to committee chairmen. Congress is a political animal from top to bottom. And the appointment of a woman to a Republican committee chairmanship may be good evidence of that.

Dude can't win for losing with you dicks.

He either gets derided for appointing another old white guy, or derided for "tokenism" if he doesn't.

Kinda defines the left-wing-partisanship that exists but is never spoken of by the "fair and honest media" or "fair and honest USMB leftists". :D

you bet, that was some unbiased piece by nbcfirstread

they merely pointed-out Boehners (R) disregard for women in his party.

ummhumm...you go on believe that

this from the people that tossed a woman under the bus for A MAN to become President

but hey, keep crowing and people will keep laughing

that's because Republicans want people that can be criticized in leadership positions. clearly minorities and women cannot be questioned whatsoever because that is soooo racist. in this new era of identity only politics this is the new reality. who cares who is most competent right? just give it up to the non-deserving who have not the seniority or the expertise!

Boehner (R) realized that the publicizing of his bindering Repub women instead of giving them chairmanships was bad PR Steph :wink_2:

Buckhead Republican Women and Atlanta 912 Gathering/Meeting | Georgia Republican Party

and many more like it. you must have a myopic view to think such things. almost every county in the USA has "women's republicans of x county" and "women democrats of x county".
