"I could come in on Tuesday and my colleagues could take the weekend on this and have different thoughts," Marsh said. He's willing to change what now would allow a statewide lottery; casino-style gambling at four dog tracks; and authorization for the governor to negotiate a gambling compact with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, the only federally recognized tribe in the state.

I agree, but it seems gambling is portrayed as a legitimate way to get rich when in fact only and extrememly small number of gamblers ever hit the jackpot.

considering what advertising in general tells us about products (beer makes you cool, nordic track makes you fit, Buicks are somehow cool now) I think its a general problem and not one specific to gambling. Granted blowing your mortgage payment is a bad thing, but its not just gambling's problem.

What burns me is lotteries take a bigger vig out of the kitty than any bookie would ever dream of.

Utah, should it permit Indian gaming in the Mexican Hat and Vernal and Skull Valley and the Shivwitz areas would end its problems with fair funding for education for all time.
