The extreme right is already building their excuse for a Romney loss next month.

Instead of facing the hard fact that their relentless campaign of "OMG! OBAMA!", which they've waged now for 4 years, isn't going to deliver the victory that seemed so sure to them just months ago, they're getting ready to blame the "media" for stealing the election. We see that excuse being posited already right here on these boards day after day. We hear candidates and talking heads blather on about it every news cycle.

Instead of accepting the reality that their message just isn't resonating with a majority of voters, they're doubling down on the politics of illegitimacy. Since before Obama won the nomination in 2008, they've tried to de-legitimize him personally, claiming he's a closet Muslim/Communist/Fascist/Whatever and sowed seeds of doubt about his parentage and nationality. Now, they intend to de-legitimize more than half the American voters and nearly all the free press!

The Über-right wing of the Republican Party seems to be trapped in a destructive loop of their own making, one from which they cannot break free without becoming the very traitors to "the cause" which they claim liberals to be. Their own rhetoric has become a web of entanglement which denies them the vision and the ability to compromise which they will need to remain a viable party in the future.

How sad. What was once the Grand Old Party of Ike and Barry Goldwater has become a shrinking cabal of conspiracy theorist's so out of touch with mainstream America that they don't even realize it. Instead of admitting their message has been rejected, and crafting a more moderate one, they hunker down in their ideological bunkers and throw bombs at shadows.

Who will save the Republican Party from themselves?

"....To put it bluntly: you are rigging this election and taking sides in order to pre-determine the outcome. In the quarter century since the Media Research Center was established to document liberal media bias, there has never been a more brazen and complete attempt by the liberal so-called “news” media to decide the outcome of an election..."

So you're Jake Starkey, aren't you?

Okay, I agree with some of your points.

I think when Romney loses, it will be all Romney's fault in the eyes of various factions. The Establishment/Washington/Blue-blood, Country Club faction will claim it was because Romney embraced the far right, while the TEA Party/Rush Limbaugh/Religous Right will claim it was because Romney wasn't a "Real Conservative".

Romney will be the red-headed stepchild of the GOP, and no one will take any credit for him.

Kind of like John McCain and Bob Dole.

And to a degree, they will be right. Romney is an awful candidate.

They're not going to blame Romney. They're going to blame the free press for "stealing" the election, which allows them to avoid the distasteful task of admitting their message is wrong.

In other words, they won't have to change their ideology because they didn't lose....their assured victory was "stolen."

ps: Who's Jake Starkey?

Jake, after accusing everyone else of using sock puppets, deploying one of your own is sort of sad.

But to the point...

Romney will get most of the blame, at least initially.

Then there will be a showdown between the TEA and Establishment factions for the heart and soul of the party. I think the Establishment is likely to lose this fight. But short term, the TEA Party will probalby do very well in the 2014 midterms, so the fact they are on the wrong track won't be obvious for a while.

The real part where it comes to a head is in 2016, when the TEA party runs Ryan or someone like him, and the Establishment tries to push Jeb Bush.

.

The Tea Party can be a huge force and influence in localized elections. State offices, national reps and national senators. Smaller votes, less national attention.

The Tea Party is a significant handicap on the presidential race for the GOP. Too easy to paint the movement as loons, too many Tea Partiers who are willing to confirm it.

The Republicans don't seem to recognize that distinction, yet.

.

and I ask, are there any Democrat who aren't Socialist-Commies? if so, who are they?

You define a "commie" as anyone who thinks a working man should get his fair share... so it's a circular argument.

You're not rich.
You are never going to be rich, no matter how much you beg and pander and whine.

So stop doing their bidding.

I think at their base, the TEA movement has some decent ideas. Government is too big and we are too dependent on it. Absolutely. And the current level of spending is unsustainable.

The problem is, what they don't have is a spokesman who can articulate their viewpoint in a way that sounds reasonable. Instead, they just demand fealty, and make otherwise sensible politicians sound like loons trying to placate them.

I should also point out that the TEA movement is only about four years old.

I've also opined that OWS and TEA are actually mad about the same thing, they just don't realize it.... the incestuous relationship between big corporations and big government.

Agree 100% on both counts.

The Tea Party is still in its formative stages and could very well get its shit together. A key will be jettisoning the Palin/Bachmann/Beck hardcore religious types and keep a clear message on government responsibility. And if they decide to focus their energies more locally, they could be a huge force for a long time.

And yeah, imagine if the OWS & Tea Partiers combined their efforts for issues on which they agree. Won't ever happen though, too many egos involved.

Who cares?

I supported Ron Paul's attempts to put the party back on course, but I never really thought he had much of a chance. And if they're not going to change, if they're going to continue to represent the same corporatist, authoritarian ideology implemented by the Democrats, what's the point in having two parties?

OMG OMG FRIKKEN FRIKKEN DEmocrats-Commies FICKEN CHICKEN. Let's ask President Romney about this!!!
Dpes this somehow make you feel better, you pathetic pile of rotted dog shit? Resurrecting old threads from 4 years ago.
Wait until Hillary gives up her campaign ahead of criminal charges and we all laugh you off this forum.

The Rabbi is far more likely to go to jail than HRC, a reasonable would think.

If the GOP does not reach out reasonably and responsibly to women and minorities, our candidates will lose to the Dems.

You really need to go back to the enema you were taking, apparently, you are not yet finished.

And I can bump any thread that I find interesting. And if you don't like it, well, little fake rabid rabbi rabbit, you just need to know that OFF is the direction in which you may fuck.

It is more likely that you go to jail for being an insufferable asswipe than that Hillary will ever go to jail. So, go suck an egg.

Love it when the leftmost of Democrats speaks of Republicans as "our"
candidates.

Come out of the closet, Jake, we promise not to laugh at your Doctor Dentons- though it is sad you haven't changed them since posing for the Obamacare ads!
