gop just can't stay out of people's lives

Bullshit. The right is just as much in favor of big government as the left, just on different issues.
The socialists have been backing and controlling the dimwits since the 60's. The left is big gov't. the right is big business which is better any day of the week.

You get the Bucs90 "Post of the Day" award.

Big Gov't and Big Business are both greedy and often heartless.

But Big Business can't send men with guns to take more of my money when they are broke..

like when oil companies sent us to iraq and libya? or defense contractors always looking for a war to start to keep their contracts going?

GOP has always been for big government when it suits them. It is a problem which costs them many votes. Just ask Ashcroft how big government has the right to over rule state laws.

Now personally I am against State's Rights in almost every case. Just an observation in agreement from the outside.

In the past it has been obvious that both parties want "big government". I kinda curious as to the future of the republicans with the Tea Party members involved. I can only hope....

Hell Meister, at least then there would be consistency. To be fair the Democrats do it also.

Well, now that I have seen the bill itself: Read The Bill: H.R. 3 - GovTrack.us

It seems that Mother Jones is full of shit. It does not call for audits. It simply states that no federal funding shall be used for the purposes of abortion and gives the exclusion for the case of rape, incest or life of the mother.

This is the only reference to the internal revenue laws that I could find:

Immie

huh? so if a person has health insurance that covers abortion they can not deduct their health care premiums? I don't understand?

how is this the government's money btw? isn't it the payee's money?

i guess i just don't understand?
It's essentially to stop any workarounds of the Hyde Amendment, a House rule that prohibits any bills or parts of bills which allow federal funding of abortion. Basically making the Hyde amendment, law. To put it way too simply.

The massive bi-partisan support of this bill is astounding. If all of the cosponsors vote for this bill, it passes easily. There's over 210 cosponsors.

And yes, the biased source the OP started this thread with is a complete and total liar.

It looks to me more like they are trying to keep their promise of making the Hyde Amendment legally binding rather continuing the present practice of tacking it onto the budget every year. I am not surprised that Mother Jones is blowing this out of proportion, I just thought that people here were smarter than that.

Let me get this straight. Tax deductions which defray the cost of producing oil are considered oil subsidies, but tax deductions which defray the cost of abortions are not considered abortion subsidies.

This is referring to medical deductions and does not restrict deductions for medically necessary abortions. If an abortion is not medically necessary, why should you get a medical tax deduction?

Because, liberals are really pro-abortion, not pro-choice.

You have over generalized.

There may be some liberals who favor abortion. Perhaps some who thought your mother should have had one, who knows. Just don't confuse pro-choice with pro-abortion. It is like saying pro-death penalty is pro-killing.

To debate on topic though, I can see the point in subsidizing abortion from a social standpoint. Sometimes a poor trailer girl in Texas having that kid means you and I are going to support it for the next 18 years and an abortion would be cheaper for the country on the whole.

Don't worry, the IRS won't have time to audit abortions...........they've got 310,000,000 Americans to check the status of health insurance possession on, and issue appropriate fines for those who don't. They'll never get aroud to it. In fact, if the IRS is gonna do a yearly health insurance possession check on over 300,000,000 Americans, that comes out to almost 1,000,000 people PER DAY that they have to check on. No wonder Obamacare called for 10,000 more IRS agents. That leaves 100 people per day each agent will have to check up on. Or about 13 per hour for an 8 hour shift, or 5 minutes per person for over 300,000,000 people.

Wow.
I'm always impressed by the absolute stupidity required to swallow any statistic cooked by the CON$. This moron actually believes every man woman and child in America files a tax return, including every infant born every day!!! :cuckoo:

In 2009 there were 138,950,000 returns filed and 1,426,000 or 1% were examined.

Wow.

The "wealthy" want government big enough to protect their property and possessions - but not big enough to protect the average citizen from losing their property and possessions.
