Republicans don't want to get rid of SS. They just want to make it an income source for the rich by "privatizing" it so working Americans will be investing money with the rich.

Republicans also don't care how much the government spends on medical care, as long as lots of money if flowing to the rich, such as through noncompetitive insurance companies and noncompetitive drug and doctor fees.
