GOP establishment has abandoned the base.

That is the biggest reason they are going to lose big in 2016. Yes, once again talk radio will rally behind the rubio/bush cabal and blather how essential it is to defeat hillary. Meanwhile, the base of the party is finding it has no representation in govt.

But arguably the Democrats are in the same boat.
I don't think so. I honestly do not think that they even notice that they are ignored. Look at the ACA - a massive handout to the insurance companies that was unnecessary but vehemently defended by the left. It is completely against their ideals. So was the bailout - another idea defended by the left.

They have been abandoned to cronies but the difference is I don't think they have even noticed it yet.

I think they're having their own little "Ron Paul Revolution" with the Bernie Sanders thing. It'll be interesting to see how the progressives deal with their hangover when it comes time to vote for another Clinton.
Really because I missed the revolution entirely. They TRIED to have one - ows was a symptom of the attempt - but it entirely failed. I think it has to do with the core ideology that means the left is generally more accepting of and trusting of government where the right is the opposite. As such, the left has swallowed the democrats selling them out to big corporate interests. Defending the bank is another good example of this right here in this very thread. It is amazing how many crony interests the left are defending when it is entirely counter to their core ideology.

Trump has breathed new air into the conservative movement to take the GOP back from the rinos who are nothing more than an extension of the Democratic Party. It's time for a make-over.

If the party fractures along the lines you promote we will see a 3rd Party candidacy that will insure a Dem victory. Is that what you want ... your vision of ideological purity and a Dem Prez rather than something less than perfect conservatism?

The Dems couldn't ask for a more cooperative opposition than they have right now. Boehner and McConnell may as well be Democrats. Don't stick your head in the sand and think by electing weak Republicans who will go along to get along will be any different than just electing Democrats.

Is the base you referred to the segment that a majority polled by Pew Research found to be "extreme" (52%)? Nationally, the GOP's polling numbers are at it's lowest point in 18 years per a recent poll by Pew Research. The extreme element of the GOP is what is killing the party.
Well, they're working on pushing the liberals out of the GOP so those numbers should begin to get better...

Yes they are, thankfully. Extremists need to be defeated, especially the party that carries signs to rallies that say 'keep government out of my medicare you socialists'.

And the demographics for the GOP are a ticking time bomb about to go off which will end their ability to get elected nationally.
That's rich.
Your best candidate may soon be under indictment. The only reason she isn't is because the Democrat president in office is more of a criminal than she is.

LOL You need your Ben Gassy's to cling to. None of them have any relevance or strength. Its just the GOP has nothing else to fight Hillary Clinton with. They certainly don't have policies that anyone is behind.

Are you GOP?

No, I'm an Independent & moderate. I typically vote for candidates who are close to the center. I do vote GOP, Democratic and Independent. I have never voted straight ticket. I'm strictly an issues voter.

yeah you hate Americans an democracy
based on what?

This must be those imaginary things that you were talking about earlier.

statist: "The majority agrees everyone should brush their teeth. We should pass a law!"

libertarian: "Our personal habits aren't a proper concern of government. Mind your own business"

statist: "But ... We the People agree!"

libertarian: "So?"

statist: "Why do you hate democracy?"

That is about the jist of it.
