And last week, Connecticut GOPer Linda McMahon confessed to being unsure what the minimum wage rate is – after saying that she thinks that it should be reviewed and possibly lowered.

First Read - GOP candidates' remarks spur minimum wage debate

"I profess that minimum wage be eliminated and we operate on the laws of supply and demand just like we did before the depression."

That statement was made by John Raese, the billionaire businessman who is running for Senate in West Virginia where the minimum wage is the federally mandated $7.25 per hour.

I think it's funny when posters who rage about jobs going overseas then rage about anyone daring to criticize the minimum wage.

Minimum wage above the rate any employer is wiling to pay for a persons work guarantees that person is out of a job.

You want high crime and high unemployment, then trash the schools and raise the minimum wage into the stratosphere.

Does not matter what the actual number is for the rate. What matters is if that rate is excessive for the skill sets of a large part of the population.

Oregon has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. It also has one of the highest minimum wages. And we have pathetic schools as well.

You can have low unemployment or high minimum wages. You can't have both.

Check my sig line.

I also don't know waht the min wage is anymore. And many states have their own.
I do know that if you want to kill entry level jobs and punish minorities and teenagers then enacting the min wage is the way to go.

You'll all be at $25 a day, soon enough.
Have fun. You are going to vote for it.
How will a billionaire Nazi get into office ?
That's right. The dupes will put him there.
I repeat. murka needs a dictator.
It's fully obvious you are too ignorant to be allowed to vote on anything.

According to the Dems who supported the raising of the minimum wage, it would help to spur the economy, would not have a negative effect on total jobs and would be a bonus to the poor who are forced to live on wages from the minimum wage.

Democrats! Is there anything they don't know?

"The problem with Democrats is not that they don't know anything; it's that so much of what they know is wrong." -Reagan.

Republicans feel if Americans would only work 60 hours a week for 51 cents an hour, like they do in China, it would "fix" the economy.

So far, that's their ONLY plan.

The minimum wage doesn't need to be lowered.

It needs to be eliminated altogether.

You got that right. Then we could have American right wingers working for 51 cents an hour and living in dorms like the Chinese.

After 60 hour work weeks, they wouldn't have time to complain about the size of government. But they would have time to take a short run off a tall building. Just like they do in China.

The chinese are getting that because, after all is said and done, the work they do only is worth 51 cents to the buyer of the labor. There are huge costs between the chinese worker and the american consumer.

American workers are worth the wages they get because the person who hires them can get more than that for what they produce. Some workers are worth $4 per hour. They are now unemployed. Some are worth $6. They also are unemployed. Some are worth $8. Some are worth $150.

Prices are set where marginal cost = marginal revenue. American workers can get $12 when their labor produces $12.01.

After you factor in all the costs, it is sometimes cheaper to hire an american worker at $7 per hour than a chinese worker at 41 cents. If you deny the american worker the right to work for seven, then you are shipping the job overseas where some chinese girl would be delighted to get a chance to work for 39 cents. It is stupid US laws that are shipping jobs overseas, not evil corporations. The corporation would rather work with the US worker, but if the legal framework prevents that, then they will go overseas.

absolute bullshit.

I have been there done that. You can get shit manufactured in China and shipped here for 1/3 of what it costs here. So you can mark it up 200% and remain competitive with US manufacturing that is operating at a zero margin.

You said as much but you bent heaven and hell to minimize the real scoop.

What do you get for 1/3rd the cost?

If it was as good as you say, more folks would be doing it.

There are huge costs in dealing with China. They have no intellectual property law at all. You do not outsource anything with a patent. They don't respect them.

QC is a huge issue.

Dealing with the government there is a huge issue.

Chinses labor is just one step above a robot for skill.

all this is changing very quickly, however.

You're trying to present logical arguments to people who think everyone would be working for 2 cents an hour were it not for Big Daddy Government. It's a waste of time. Loosebowel has "been there". That's his argument. Seriously.

How do they explain the folks getting more than minimum? Unions don't cover but a very small fraction of the non government workforce anymore.

Someone getting more than $8.50 in Oregon is just

not germaine to them.
