Funny how this is playing out. The far right and Tea Party folks....for a couple weeks now have been preaching about an armed government worker in every school in America, and sending a police escort to every fire dept call to prevent another ambush, and putting armed gubmint workers in all malls and movie theaters, etc, etc, etc.

Funny how they throw out their less-government, less spending gosspil...when it comes to avoiding the gun debate.

Right wingers...you guys know to put an cop in every school, and send a cop on every fire dept call, and to spend the money to equip and train every teacher with a gun.......it means we will have to...wait for it...wait for it.......spend more tax dollars, increase revenue, and hire and pay even MORE GUBMINT WORKERS!!!!!!

Well, to be fair, most of the TP types around here that are supporting arming the schools have taken the position that somehow, magically, it's not going to cost anything. They certainly don't want to pay for it.

If we're going to have to do this, first of all, let's make sure these people are able to unionize and get the kind of pay and benefits they deserve as guardians of the lives of America's children.

Americans already have the right to own firearms. Cost: Nothing.

Plus, it's only Concealed Carry that requires a permit. Open Carry Cost: Nothing.

Then it's just a matter of finding the right sidearm for YOU. I like the Glock 23 which can be bought new in the 500-600 dollar range.

No Gov't program needed.

First of all, dumb ass, I don't know one Republican or conservative who is against ALL government spending. That's because we're not stupid; some government spending is absolutely necessary in our society. And sometimes that means new spending on things that heretofore weren't paid for by the government. Things some feel are necessary and prudent to invest in. I don't happen to agree with the idea of providing armed personnel in every school, but I can see the rationale for those who feel like it might be the answer.

What we don't like is the spending on God only knows how many programs, that increase year after year, but fail to achieve the outcomes originally intended. Pouring good money after bad down countless rat holes and getting nothing in return for it is just plain stupid, which explains why clowns like you are in favor of it I guess.

I also feel the same way about EMT personal.

Many are vets who were medics in the service. (and yes medics do learn how to shoot a weapon in basic training)

So their training to carry and become proficient in the use of civilian firearms would be very cost effective.

Considering the enormous growth in inflation adjusted $/pupil that has gone into funding the school administrations/bureaucracy, there is plenty of money already available for security.

It's a matter of priorities.
