Third, kids would learn even less than they do now.

Something that rw's will never get is that education is actually the biggest and best investment we can make in our country and our future.

Start by getting rid of teaching to the test and to Bush's "no child left behind". Not saying he didn't think it was a good idea but its not and its needs to go.

Second, stop mainstreaming every single kid into the very same environment. Face the fact that some kids are faster than others, some are gifted, some will never do anything more than boost cars for a living. Don't put them all together in one classroom with one teacher.

Teacher's unions are not bad, in and of themselves. What the rw is really saying is that they don't want to pay teachers what they're worth. In this country, we shit on our real heroes - teachers, fire fighters, law enforcement, nurses, while we worship some brainless twit who plays football.

Other countries teach their kids languages and other usable skills while we demand English only. China graduates more science majors than we graduate students. India graduates kids who are fluent in several languages AND computer technology.

Tell the R's to work for the US instead of other countries and demand that our kids get a decent education. And tell parents to work WITH their kid's teachers instead of against them.

Or, stay with the status quo, blame unions and just continue this race to the bottom.

It's not just the unions. They are but one part of the equation. The whole system needs to be torn down and revamped. One thing for certain, though, money is not the problem and they sure as hell don't need more of it. They have too much to spend as it is.
