Good Ole Socialists/Progressives: Trying To Get Fox News Banned...

I don't think anyone should be taken off the air!!!

That's not the American way!!!!

BTW....can you name me ONE fox news anchor, commentator, ect. who has any educational experience in political science? Any practical experience in matters of war? Any background in economics or business?
I did, and his name was Charles Manson back in the 60s when he was yapp-yapping it up on tv about his innocence in the LaBianca/Tate houses of horror, murder, and Manson's nutcase cult worshippers.

There's really not much difference between Charles Manson and the hate-mongering wanna-be cult leaders on FOX News like Hannity and O'Reilly is there?

You forgot to start with that sterling standard of journalism excellence!

"Some people say " there's really not much difference, etc.

You know, Sherry has a very good point. How boring would this board be without any libs around?

Fox is good entertainment but they DO cater to the lowest of the low lying fruit in America. It is a sad statement on America that their ratings remain so high.

They certainly blur the line between opinion and fact and they do it very subtly by distracting with a lot of bling....glitzy sets and backgrounds, sound effects, short, oft-repeated soundbites, and so on.

If you look carefully the FOX News experience is not too much unlike a trip to Wal-Mart (yuck!)

In a "perfect" world I suppose there wouldn't have to even be a discussion about "censoring" FOX because consumers would do it naturally through the free market in their demand for QUALITY.

Yet....FOX endures. They point to their "high" rating as proof of (ahem) quality.

Kinda like Wal-Mart cites their status as the nation's largest retailer as THEIR proof of "quality" when we all know better!

This elitist line of thinking is exactly what fuels demand for conservative biased media.... That and the liberal denial that abc, NBC, CBS, CNN and NPR are not biased.

More left-wing hate spewing, like a baby duck they can spew out of both ends. :trolls:

The bimbos are kind of cute to look at. With the sound down.

This is what the Democratic Party has come to. Pretty sad. :(

Another failed thread from USMB's resident hack.

First, the Democrat party has nothing to do with this.

Second, CREW doesn't cite Fox's or its commentators' views as reason to revoke Murdoch's FCC license (nothing about banning was mentioned); they cite News Corps' phone hacking scandal and their questionable standards as proof that News Corp isn't eligible to hold a FCC license to operate in the US.

CREW Calls for FCC to Revoke Murdoch’s Broadcast Licenses | CREW | Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington

Under U.S. law, broadcast frequencies may be used only by people of good “character,” who will serve “the public interest,” and speak with “candor.” Significant character deficiencies may warrant disqualification from holding a license.

An investigation by Great Britain’s House of Commons Culture, Media and Sport Committee recently condemned Rupert Murdoch as “not a fit person to exercise stewardship of a major international company.” Further, the Committee concluded that both Rupert and James Murdoch turned a blind eye to the illicit activities at News Corp. The Committee described parts of Rupert Murdoch’s testimony as “barely credible,” and said the notion that he had no inkling about the widespread illegal conduct was “simply not credible.”

That report was not agreed to by the conservatives on the British committee, saying that the report was biased and an unfair assessment.

Ok. That still doesn't change the fact that the Democrat party has nothing to do with this and that CREW's reasoning has nothing to do with Fox's right-wing bias, but with News Corps' phone hacking scandals.

I record "The Five", "O'Reilley Factor", "Hannity" and "On the Record" on FOX on weekdays.
I record "Hardball", "The Ed Show" and "The Last Word" on MSNBC on weekdays.

I watch them at my leisure, skipping all the commercials.

Two things you can be sure of:

The shows on FOX will always present liberal guests, and in some segments, ONLY liberal guests, while the shows on MSNBC will present conservative guests only very rarely.

MSNBC shows are offensive hate fests, filled with phony and snide remarks, always at the expense of those who dare to be conservatives, while the shows on FOX are entertaining and funny and the FOX hosts have the grace and sense of humor to - sometimes - laugh at themselves.

As far as news, there is nobody on MSNBC even comparable to Shepard Smith.
Of course, the "Liberals" are really MODERATE CON$ passed off as Libs, and even then they are NEVER allowed to speak without constant and habitually rude interruption.

The "Libs" are never free to speak without interruption, their right to free speech ends with each interruption. That's free speech CON$ervoFascist style!

Of course, the "Conservatives" on MSNBC are back-stabbing turncoats like Joe Scarboro and Mike Schmidt. Real conservatives like Pat Buchanan get fired. Michael Steele has not been able finish a single sentence, yet. Todd Harris is constantly interrupted by the biggest blowhard of all, (perhaps the second biggest blowhard, after the "Reverend" Sharpton), Chris Matthews.

Are you kidding me???

Hannity and O"Reilly are OP ED.......

Of course democrats don't know the difference between facts and opinions on alleged facts..

Opinion isn't news......

It's not like Fox News reports republican opinions - they report news - they just have several shows that are opinion editorial.

Progressives just hate their views so they want to shut them down.... Obviously because they're anti-First Amendment....

I know you're young yet, so I'll just politely tell you it's presumptuous of you to think you can speak for others.

Liberals are full of shit regarding Freedom of Speech, they will try to get Rush off the radio, FOX off TV and they attack conservatives on college campuses when they speak out.

At my undergrad alma mater the little liberal lemming students attacked Tom Tancredo when he showed up to speak causing the left-wing leadership on campus to apologize to keep the facade of academic freedom alive for those that rank schools. Liberal professors like Ward Churchill can lie about their "indian" roots and call 9/11 victims "Nazis" but nobody attacks him on campus.

Well, I'm not the author of the "fairness doctrine."

I suppose the simple fact it's being tossed around speaks volumes for others like yourself.

This is what the Democratic Party has come to. Pretty sad. :(

This month, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW) wrote to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski asking him to revoke the broadcasting licenses of Rupert Murdoch. A ban would include any and all news organizations affiliated with Murdoch’s umbrella organization, News Corp, which owns Fox News.

Meanwhile, they continue to keep Maddow on the air and are always willing to give Olberman another chance. Freedom of speech is only for liberals, doncha know.

Tolerance, freedom and liberty end where the other party begins.

Funny how there seems to be an entire industry that has popped up in recent years dedicated to trying to discredit FOX. For as bad as the left/dims hate FOX, they always seem to know what is ON FOX.

You'd think they actually watched FOX to know that much. Maybe that's why FOX's ratings are so high. The left/dims are watching, stomping their feet, and drooling over what FOX says.

I wonder if they watch the other networks with so much intensity, and constantly point out their errors?

Probably not...

whenever you see this kind of mindless, baseless, character assination you know you're looking at communists.

First, CREW has everything to do with liberal progressive politics. And Soros (a major contributor to CREW) has everything to do with a personal war against Murdoch.

Second, a foreign committee's statements are not proof of anything.

Let CREW investigate the operations of News Corp. operations here in the US and then we can talk. That Murdoch has not been charged personally in email hacking of one of his rag sheets is what can be pointed to as actual proof at this time. Kind of like the Obama admin and illegal gun stings...no?

I agree but we could do without the fruitloops.

Well, I wish more people could differentiate between the fruit loops and just saying things they don't want to hear.

So to you this nut comparing Manson to Fox News isn't extreme? Seriously?

When you had garbage like Olbermans "WORST PERSON" segments? That man spewed literal hate. But yet Fox is the bad guy? Fox is definitely biased but I don't see hate being promoted.

Ridiculous! I see the "cutting off" going both ways and all ways! I have seen O"Reilly over talk liberals and conservatives- BUT I have likewise seen both cutting him off- On Hannity and the Five all sides and voices get heard as well. The POINT- no not the one atop your head, is that all sides are present and all sides have a voice- whereas in the biased MSNBC and a few of the network programming- It's ALL liberal all the time.
HanNITWITty is by far the worst offender for interrupting. You must need a hearing aid if you never hear it!
