As shown below, Americans with bachelor's degrees and higher have just a 4% unemployment rate. There isn't an unemployment disaster for this demographic.

There Isn't Any Unemployment Disaster For The College-Educated.

I've been saying such for a couple weeks, the republiklans have been in a hissy fit over it.

This is all well and good for those with formal education but what's the rest of the work force supposed to do, compete with the Chinese, the Indians, and other third-worlders?

Absolutely!
Because they sure as shit aren't going to get a job in the US where we have effectively shut down all meaningful resource production.

There's also one key issue not addressed: how many of the discouraged and underemployed workers are in the bachelor degree category?

Someone who is working a minimum wage job far below the pay of his previous job is counted as employed, despite having far less income.

incomes are rising for college grads, hopefully the cons aren't blaming Obama for uneducated people not having jobs. This has and will go on for decades, it's called globalization.

sorry I'm uabshedly elitist.

Unlike the left, conservatives are not solely concerned with elitist academia and their minions.

We're more concerned about things like sustainability and self-reliance.

I thought competition was what Republicans were looking for? Don't they want to help corporations move overseas to get the cheapest labor possible without all those nasty union benefits like socialistic health care and dumb vacations?

Republicans don't want to be told they need education/skills updating. They want good jobs for being WHITE AMERICANS!!! lofl

And now that topspin has played the Race Card, we can declare this thread to have irrevocably jumped the shark.

Depends on what the degree is in.

Note the rate of unemployment in education?

Here in Maine?

It's 8%-9%

In fact with the exception of three states its well over 5% nationwide.

And guess what?

I'll bet it even worse today than it was when these numbers were compiled.

Much much worse, actually.

Did you bother to look at your own damn graph?
Unemployment for this one demographic started out at less than 2% and now is over 4% and is holding stead at 4%. For this one demographic unemployment has doubled and stayed there.

All unemployment rates are higher, but this is the one that doubled.

The best you can say from the other graph is that the rate of sink is slowing down. But the economy is still net loosing jobs from the graph.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

The economy needs to generate 130K plus new jobs each month just to keep up with population growth. To increase real employment (i.e., a real decrease in unemployment due to job growth - not people QUITTING LOOKING), we need to see 300K-400K new jobs per month for 3 to 4 years. Unless GDP growth gets up in the 5%+ range, we're not going to see a meaningful increase in real employment. Increased spending, deficits, and debt are killing economic growth, making such job recovery virtually impossible.

Obamanomics = EPIC FAIL
